meh. it's ok. yeezy sounding mad uninspired tho lately. oh well
Well he is a hack who miraculously managed to make one good album and people praise him like he's a good rapper
his rapping ability has always been slightly above avg at best, with a few clever lines sprinkled in
always been about the production. he's admitted as such many times b4. although i'd wager that the rapping has gone to his head now and he thinks he's the GOAT
ya ever had sex with a Pharaoh?
I put the pussy in a sarcophagus?
Like it's amusing when he's unintentionally funny but that's about it
You already know that is gonna happen though
Digging: Travis Scott - Days Before Rodeo
like the song, really like the video
I don't think even Kanye would be that much of a dumbass to marry some bitch who's just famous because she sucked a black cock.
like the song, really like the video
this is his best song in years
this is his best song in years
amazing production. A really refreshing change from the recent GOOD Music stuff (which I liked, but it was pretty stale)
wow this is awesome. A whole lot better than anything on cruerl summer. bring in the trebs to state
opinions as factsuc kmy cockyouro pinionsar ewrong
yo Andcas have you ever listened to "Gold Digger".
"We want prenup, we want prenup"
look at this andcas guy making jokes n shit
yeah, well quality > quantity so I dunno
Sweet, sweet song. My god.
Does anyone think andcas' jokes are funny?
Haven't they been besties for most of a decade or something? Doubt she's waited that long to scam him
Wow. That was fantastic.
all unfunny humor aside, this song rules and is probably the best thing he's done since MBDTF.
"managed to make one good album"
Digging: Liturgy - The Ark Work
Song is good actually
better than anything off of Cruel Summer
Digging: Drake - If You're Reading This It's Too Late
lol @ Kanye only having one good album
Also what's with the hate on his lyrics?
this song rules and is probably the best thing he's done since MBDTF.
Kanye having one good album? no way
College Dropout is awesome, Late Registration is fantastic, graduation is good, 808 is sort of shitty, and MBDTF is one of the best hip hop albums in the 20 years.
His lyrics aren't necessarily shitty, but there are definitely more than enough better lyricists and flow-wise better rappers out there. (Canibus despite being as much of a narcissist, Busdriver, Flashbang Grenada, elzhi, Illogical, El-P, Doom, sometimes Yelawolf, Billy Woods, partly Tech N9ne ect.)
"MBDTF is one of the best hip hop albums in the 20 years."
It's good but lol no, doesn't comare at all to the 90's classics, I'll give you one of the best hip hop albums of the last 5-8 years but most certainly not 20
Enter The Wu-Tang came out 19 years ago!
Digging: Troy Baker - Sitting In the Fire
"and MBDTF is one of the best hip hop albums in the 20 years."
Maybe in mainstream/pop rap but not in general. Basically everything good Wu Tang has put out is within that time. Then there's old Outkast, Gang Starr, the first Bone Thugs N Harmony, De La Soul, any DOOM release, Reasonable Doubt, Illmatic ect.) Even if some of them are maybe 'just close'. (I don't have 100% correct dates in my head)
Midnight Marauders, Ready To Die, Black on Both sides, Madvillainy, Soul Food, Things Fall Apart, etc
All way better
and liquid swords aka the best of all
SGGreenman probably hasn't heard most of these hence why he loves Kanye so much!
There's countless good rap releases from the past 20 years. (and we didn't even go into 'indie rap') And definitely more than enough better than MBDTF. Such a broad claim is nonsensical no matter how you twist it.
he made 2 good albums...
Digging: Robert Johnson - The Complete Recordings
"SGGreenman probably hasn't heard most of these hence why he loves Kanye so much!"
Yes I have......?
I'm not saying MBDTF is THE best of the last 20 years, it's just one of them. I'm saying it's in the same class as those albums (madvilliany, Illmatic, Enter the Wu-Tang). I'd actually rank it 4th out of those four releases.
Kanye is a great producer and a mediocre rapper. That's it. He's nothing special on the mic, but his beats are good. He fell the fuck off.
I laughed out loud at some of MBDTF's lyrics. He's not the best rapper in the world, but they are very entertaining nonetheless.
yeah, a lot of his lyrics are crap shame
"Also what's with the hate on his lyrics?"
But you never fuck with the lights on?(Fuck with lights on, with the-with the lights on,fuck with the lights on, with the-with the lights on)
Got a light skinned friend look like michael jackson
Got a dark skinned friend look like michael jackson
that actually makes sense tho lol
I treat the cash the way the government treats aids,
I won't be satisfied till all the niggas get it, get it?
the same people that tried to blackball me forgot about two things: my black balls.
what song is that from?
He raps so fucking slow, like the one Andcas posted
i thought we established the fact that his rap skills are subpar
song was good
Yeah his lyrics are dreadful. The production is where it's at indeed.
and his songwriting mang
lol @ andcas complaining about bad lyrics
i like his flow though. best "mainstream" artist in awhile.
Digging: Father John Misty - I Love You, Honeybear
"Too many Urkels on your team, that's why your wins low."
That's a good one
yeah, thats one of those clever lines he sprinkles in from time to time
Well it is a throwaway, doesn't even rythme
"Well it is a throwaway, doesn't even rythme"
the line before is "fresh air, roll down the window"
which is a pretty irrelevant line but it does rhyme. haha.
i felt like Winslow rhymed with Window, but that's just me i guess
You make a good point of his lack of speed, but I think his production makes up for it.
Come to think of it, Kanye's style of production wouldn't really sound very good with a fast flow to it.
I don't get the love for MBDTF. 808s and Watch the Throne are both better.
"I don't get the love for MBDTF. 808s and Watch the Throne are both better"
Well I'm aware I'm totally the minority with thought, you didn't need to give me such insightful feedback.
Also, yeah his rapping is pretty shit really, and while his lyrics can be annoying they do paint a compelling picture of a man torn between his own ego, the realization that he's a total dick etc
kanye rules agreed
He's a dick but he uses it in the best way possible for his music IMO
"I don't get the love for MBDTF. 808s and Watch the Throne are both better."
Oh my god. Shut up.
Kanye should quit while he's ahead.
808s rules. such a great idea...maybe not executed the best (Love Lockdown is such a fucking horrible song) but hell it's a good idea
I haven't listened to MBDTF since 2010
The greatest idea in the world wouldn't be worth shit with bad execution. Just look at artists that try to mash things for the sake of mashing it and up creating a total mess.
True. I'm kinda looking at it through rose-tinted glasses...
I dunno, I like all of it. Yeah lyrics aren't that brilliant but they paint a pretty vivid picture of him. And the sparsity of the production is fantastic.
trebor u are very dumb and should not talk ok bye
No I am the hip hop authority
And I'm the Coheed & Cambria Champion.
treb wags but i think gabe brings up a gud point
"I don't get the love for MBDTF. 808s and Watch the Throne are both better.
Some of Jay-Z's rapping in Watch the Throne is freaking atrocious, worse than anything i've heard from Kanye thus far(though i haven't heard all his stuff yet), and 808s gets annoying after a while.
Digging: Violent Soho - Hungry Ghost
"and people praise him like he's a good rapper"
i don't hear many people praising him for being a good rapper...
my friend was playing some ill instrumental song the other day and i asked her what it was, and she said she had no idea, just youtube-to-mp3'd it and it was called "cruel summer." it sounded like kanye production but i know it wasn't anything off that cd cuz i've heard the whole thing. does anyone know of any recent kanye-produced instrumentals?
great producer sweet beats decent rapper except on mbdtf
"i don't hear many people praising him for being a good rapper..."
People dig Kanye for his beats and his entertaining one-liners, unless I'm severely mistaken. His flow is relaxed, and I think it fits his music well.
^that's a bingo
"Does anyone think andcas' jokes are funny?
well andcas does
Digging: Waxahatchee - Ivy Tripp
