So far this feels like the Anberlin album I've always wanted them to make
| |
omg omg omg time to find out if this is their masterpiece or if Cities is
| |
wow...
| |
EAR SEX!!!
| |
I think I like this....a lot!

pretty solid! really enjoying it so far!
| |
Intentions rules
| |
ye album is great.
| |
I'm feeling extremely satisfied and I still haven't heard the last three songs.
| |
Yeah, the last song is fuckin great as well. Cant tell if i prefer this or Cities.
| |
Modern Age started a few moments ago. I'm soooooo excited for God Sex Drugs or w/e it's called.
AOTY
| |
I've only heard "Feel Good Drag" by these guys. Something tells me I should look into their discography though.
| |
Feel Good Drag is an average song for them.
| |
came here hoping for a waior
disappointy.
| |
half way through, so far it's perfect
| |
don't despair yet academy
album's solid so far
| |
And stays solid
| |
i'll admit i'm not surprised at all
| |
yeah cities was good for what it was at the time but i prefer the grown-up anberlin we got on their last album
so this is nice
| |
woah this is better than cities? I might have to check it after all
| |
A WAIIOR!!!!!
| |
gonna review after a london gig tonight, gonna be cream crackered but why the hell not
it's anberlin
| |
Yeah this is Cities meets Dark/Light. The great song writing all matured.
| |
Really awesome so far
| |
It's mine and Kripes' album of the year.
| |
me2!
| |
Yeah, the album is great and its still growing on me.
inc 4th listen.
| |
Definitely. Maybe on the same level. Idk I wasn't as impressed with Cities on first listen as I am with this and I had similar expectations for each album because I loved Never Take Friendship Personal and saw them live a year before Cities.
| |
I'll review this soon alongside you guys. This deserves a handful of 4 4.5 and 5 reviews.
| |
I'm fanboying hard right now.
| |
Yeah, i wanted something like Cities 2.0 but holy fuck this is the best Anberlin sound.
| |
This is a straight up 5 already for me.
| |
Winrar I totally agree. I thought they should go back to how they sounded on Cities after they made New Surrender. I could appreciate the more mature sound with Light/Dark, but I felt the album suffered writing and consistency.
This is the perfect Anberlin.
| |
This isn't as good as Cities for me, but it's damn good.
| |
Every rose has it's thooooooon... Yeah it does..
IT'S BEEN A WHILE NOW, I CAN STILL FEEL SO MUCH PAIN LIKE A KNIFE THAT CUTS you the woundheals ................but da sCAR..
THAT SCAR REMAINS
dun dun dun... duuuuuuun duuuuuuuuun..
bow wow wo....w oo ooo ooo
| |
Omg guys I can't listen til I get off work omg omg I gave a raging boner plus shit in my pants fuck
| |
So much positive comments! It made me listen to the album, so far so good! I hope it will stay with me for years to come as Cities and Never Take Friendship Personal both did.
| |
Storminateacup jizzing all over this thread convinced me to listen. Geez, man, calm down.
| |
Cant. Stop. Jizzing.
| |
i won't bitch
| |
Really enjoying this first time through
| |
Damn this thread is like Storm In A Teacup feat. The rest of sputnik. haha. But yeah, this rules so far.
| |
Not as good as Cities...but definitely better than their last two. Self-Starter is orgasmic.
| |
That's how it should always be. Me featuring everyone else I mean.
Plus things should always be orgasmic too I concur
| |
Storm for pres. I like his policies.
| |
I really don't like the sound production on this album, but the songs are awesome.
| |
I like this but I'm not sure if it's a 3 or a 5 yet
| |
I'm thinking 3.5 after one listen.
| |
I'm a fan of the synth lines.
| |
Wow... 3rd listen through and I am really starting to dig this heavy - more than any other Anberlin album I've heard. Really sounding great - surprised how much I like this in such a short amount of time! Easily at least a 4.
| |
Ah I really like these songs but I hate how compressed the production is! Probably would've 4.5'd if it sounded like New Surrender
| |
This is so good. Definitely their best since Cities.
| |
Modern Age is awesome.
| |
Agreed, after a couple listens through "Modern Age" and "Little Tyrants" are my favs.
| |
"I really did not sit well with New Surrender."
Album as a whole is not exceptional, but the top songs off that album (Feel Good Drag, The Resistance, Breaking, maybe a couple others) are among Anberlin's best.
| |
Didn't like anything else they've done including Cities but this is pretty good so far
| |
Suprised I like this, First album I've gotten into since "friendship." Giving off weird Thrice vibes. I like it.
| |
The little synth layers rule
| |
will listen when i get a chance i like that song god speed by these dudes
| |
I'm on my 6th or 7th playthrough now, and it's getting better with each listen. The solo in Little Tyrants blows me away every time. The album's at about a 4.25 right now, will probably go up to a 4.5 soon. This band never fails to blow me away. Even the B-side from this album that they released for free (Safe Here) is an awesome song.
| |
their b-sides tend to be awesome, the best song they ever wrote was a b-side
that'd be The Haunting
| |
I don't know if I'd call the Haunting their BEST song, but it is definitely at the top of the list. That song is incredible. The Perfect Tourniquet is another b-side of theirs that happens to be one of my favorites.
| |
Damn, I'm not a huge fan, but I feel like if I listened to them more, I would be. This might just get me there. Damn good.
| |
Any good softer songs on here? (Fin) is probably my favorite song from them.
| |
I think that this actually IS on par with cities, and its not just hype
| |
Really enjoying Modern Age. For some reason it's giving me knots in my stomach, I like that.
| |
this is better than cities. believe it...
| |
Better than cities, may be aoty for me
| |
Cities is a gazillion times better. But this is really good.
| |
omg you guys, don't disappoint me
| |
Already one of my favorite albums of all time. It's seriously amazing.
| |
I'm actually getting big Never Take Friendship Personal vibes from this on some tracks, especially Someone Anyone
| |
tayke what you will what you will and leave
| |
Yeah, no doubt the stream has some detrimental effect
| |
Anybody know who the chick in the last song is? If it was already said, sawry just don't feel like sifting through all the comments =[
damn good so far
| |
Will you lot stop "Lana Del Rey'ing" this album, because I don't want to wait until the hype dies down to listen to it.
| |
well lana del rey rules so I dun see what the problem is davey
| |
It ruled more because I waited 3 months to hear it.
| |
:O
| |
"The songs are great but the sound production is pure shit. It's compressed and bland and everything just melts together"
I'm listening to Self-Starter, and honestly I think it's the format more than anything. I can just hear how fucking shitty the quality is, so I'm hoping it's less the production and more the format.
Anyways I'm fucking excited to hear this. They're actually coming to San Diego tomorrow. I don't know why the fuck I didn't buy a ticket... I wanted a friend and all of my Anberlin-liking fans are busy tomorrow. Still I should have just gone by myself >_>
| |
Wow, this second song is great. Could this album be a fusion of NTFP, Cities, and DitW?
| |
This album is all time amazing on its' own no matter which predecessor it draws most from.
| |
This is produced awesome too you guys I've been playing it off my ipod onto my speaker system and it's been great.
| |
Yeah, I agree---this is fantastic. This is easily more consistent than Cities, but it's hard to say whether or not the peaks will be as high as Cities'. I'll have to give this a few more listens first.
On first listen it's a 4.5 though.
| |
And is it? I'm using my laptop speakers and I could hear the fuzz on Self-Starter. It could have been the speakers, but the volume wasn't that loud.
| |
It's your speakers sir.
| |
When I go back home, I'm going to give this album a proper listen on my brother's Sennheiser's. Then I'll let you know. Still, I'm still edging towards it not being my speakers though. They're alright for laptop speakers and wouldn't unnecessarily clip unless I'm blasting the music, which I wasn't.
| |
Everything's a vibrant rainbow of sound here chief.
| |
I'm blasting it now too and I'm not hearing anything that points toward what you guys suggest but that could just be me.
| |
Its odd production but i think its fine for the album
| |
It's the production they've always had pretty much. Good stuff! cheers!
| |
Eisley vocalist guests on final track to whoever asked
| |
For me this is like a 4.5 on the first listen! My favs so far are Other Side, Desires, and Modern Age.
This is as good as Cities. I like how every song is unique and how some songs the guitar is tuned to
drop B, I never expected them to make songs with that tuning. So blown away on my first listen, the
2nd and 3rd should be more better.
| |
Hey, this comes out on my burfday. How about that for a birthday gift?
| |
The first half of this album had me thinking it could match Cities.
But after hearing the whole thing, I'm thinking it's third, behind NTFP. Gotta give it some time to grow, though.
