Michigan indie/emo duo Empire! Empire! (I was a lonely estate) have announced via Facebook that for the next seven days, their complete discography will be available for pay-what-you-want (including free) download from Bandcamp. The motion was granted from a contest response (the contest runs from until midnight on the 25th of September; see the band's Facebook for details) which required five-hundred shares of the official contest status in order to unlock free downloads on Empire's Bandcamp page.
The Bandcamp page features a whopping eighteen releases from the group, including their full-length studio album What It Takes to Move Forward, two full-length compilations, several promotional EPs and an abundance of split EPs. The downside, however, is that the band is not licensed to release tracks from the other bands featured on split EPs, leaving these releases incomplete.
literally just downloaded everything
this is awesome
damn i wish this was about a band i liked :[
These guys are from Michigan? Cool.
Fenton? That's 20 minutes from here.
time to download entire discog
Digging: The Depreciation Guild - In Her Gentle Jaws
downloaded everything before this article was posted. am i cool yet?
I already knew these guys were the coolest people on Earth. This makes them some form of musical demi-gods.
it sucks that when you download the splits you don't get the songs from the other bands.
One of my friends has a cousin who has played drums for these two. I don't know which album(s) though.
I already had all of their songs damn
Digging: Burial - Rival Dealer
yeah i already have all of them too but i wanted the two new splits in 320kbps, unfortunately you only get half of the splits though which is dumb.
How is that dumb? You just expect those bands' labels to jump on board with the contest?
Don't be an idiot.
Empire! Empire! own the label though
Every band they do splits with is on their label?
The splits are released on Count Your Lucky Stars I think
A couple might be Topshelf I'm not sure
Either way, auber should stick to music and shy away from law.
This is probably the only band whos fans cant use uTorrent.
well, they had 7000 downloads today alone.
"How is that dumb? You just expect those bands' labels to jump on board with the contest?
Don't be an idiot."
well the singer for empire! empire! owns the label so yeah...
i see trebor beat me to it. but yeah someguest ur dumb.
You can't force other bands to give up their shit for free, numbnuts.
well that probably depends on the contract, but either way that doesn't mean i can't be disappointed that it's not included in the download.
someguest is pretty correct here aubs don't be a fucking retard
we both know you're just going to agree with whoever isn't me.
He's getting a product for free and he is still complaining. I mean what the hell?
and i can't be incorrect (or correct either for that matter) because all i did was state an opinion.
You're just being a jackass over a first world grievance.
"we both know you're just going to agree with whoever isn't me."
thats not even remotely true
if you didnt always act like a dumb fuck and have terrible opinions maybe id agree with you
someguest is correct here
just because the bands are on empire's label doesn't mean empire has permission to use the band's music
youre bitching and whining abuot not getting like 3 or 4 songs from other bands when you could easily find them on the internet so shut the fuck up and let the adults talk
someguest i briefly mentioned that i was disappointed that the whole split wasn't included. you're the
one who made this into a thing.
and lol auber dont you remember my list?
i said the solution for your problems is to stop complainign
so stop fucking complaining about everything and just fucking fck yourselfs 89dufbhlsuidfgAIL fuck im listeneing to kid a on vinyl im so fucking hyped FUCK
It shouldn't have even been mentioned though.
wow you guys have way too much time on your hands to get on your periods over a single comment
expressing mild disappointment, i think i'm going to go outside or something.
please do hopefully you get hit by a bus or something it would be pree cool
i'll do my best.
You still don't understand the expectations with a 'free' product, do you?
well you had the time to make the comment
Lol. Been meaning to check these guys out. Now's my wake-up call!
Digging: Current 93 - All the Pretty Little Horses
This made me so happy, hopefully now more people will listen to this band.
these guys either need to stop making music or start changing it up a bit. every song they release is exactly the same as the last one.
well indie emo is a pretty specific subgenre so obviously the songs are going to sound similar, but i think they do a good job of writing stuff that isn't just a rehash of their previous work. most of their releases have a fairly distinct sound when compared to each other.
just gonna download cos I can dont even care
I just bought their LP and 2 of their EPs like a week ago.
@auber i can't tell one song from another anymore. they all sound the same. genres are used as a general way of categorizing a band, not as a criteria within a band must strive to fit. heaven forbid they use a chord or rock out once in a while.
Dude don't diss my favorite band
Not every band has to change on every record to be good, just look at NOFX
NURSE YOUR WOUNDS YOU ARE NO SOLDIER
WE ARE NOT MEN OF FAITH
Holy fuck I'm listening to that song right now!!!!!!!!!!!
Love the avatar
sad jams 4 life
Who is Fenton anyway?
Well, I guess there's no reason not to download their discog.
yeah band is good
Gonna d/l even though I'm not the biggest fan. It's free and legally free so hey why not?
