Jay-Z & Opie Cunningham Unite 2012-08-29 by John Cruz | 9 Replies | 1428 Views |
If wanting to make a film about current popular culture in America what comes to mind first? If you said Jay-Z, a bottle of Bud, and a 58 year old red headed kid you'd be right, but somehow oh so wrong. It must be a mistake, right?
Nope, it's right on target as filmmaker Ron Howard will grab his camera and start rolling come this weekend when he shoots concert footage for the documentary film "Jay-Z's Budweiser Made In America," with the product placement right in the title.
With guest appearances by Pearl Jam, Odd Future, Run-DMC, and an assortment of non notables, Howard promises to turn in not just a concert film, but to capture a moment in time which also captures the essence of current popular culture in America.
"This will not be a concert film; it's a reflection of the fabric of what it means to be Made in America - what the festival represents, why Jay is doing it and how he relates to each artist," Howard said in a statement.
Wow, this reporter can't wait! Pretty riveting stuff. The film is also said to focus on the events leading up to all this fluff and show Jay-Z working hard behind the scenes with artists and crew alike. Also documented in the film will be Jay-Z's rise to fame, hard work ethic, musical genius, achievement of the American Dream, and big booty'd wife.
"Only In America?" Well, let's hope so.
