Alice in Chains reunion

2006-02-23 by Damrod EMERITUS | 26 Comments
The announcement of Alice in Chains headlining a festival in Austria puzzled many, but now it was confirmed officially: Alice in Chains will re-unite.

On the messageboard of guitarist Jerry Cantrall (http://www.jerrycantrell.com/) can be read that "It is true. Alice is back". At the same time an apology is handed out, for the late announcement and confirmation of this news. There are also hints that there might be more European dates on schedule. "Europe is too far away to play just one show. I have the feeling that we will be playing a lot more". It is not mentioned though what festivals or venues that might include.

Not 100% sure is who will take the position of singer Layne Stayley, who died 2002. Many speculate that the spot might be taken by William DuVall, member of Catrells tour band and vocalist of "Comes with the Fall". After all he will be the singer of Alice in Chains for VH-1's "Decades Rock Live!" on March 10th. The rumors that he will play the Reunion shows as well was not officially confirmed so far.

They should make a new album & change their name.

This could be fun if a little disrespectful to Staley.

how can it be disrespectful to staley...

i'm pretty sure he would want the music to continue...

i personally think jerry should just do the singing considering he already has the sound down to a tee...

i don't think they should change the name unless the music won't be the same...

Music wont be the same with out Layne. They should change their name & make a new record and play old AIC songs at their shows.

AIC are one of my favourite bands, but reunions are sometimes kinda crap...Not that I think it shouldnt go ahead and wasn't Jerry Cantrell first solo album basically AIC minus Layne anyway, so its not like the other members of the band have really drifted apart

Oh noes, Layne died! They can't make Alice in Chains music without Layne! I mean, even though Jerry Cantrell basically is Alice in Chains, we can't have it without Layne!

/sarcasm

That's good news, it'll be interesting to hear what they put out. I have a feeling they'll be a bit more thrashy, for some reason.

if maynard sung for them it would be arkward...everyone would just focus on maynard...i like tool and a perfect circle but some people peg him as some kind of god and that's just stupid...

i agree w/ those about the Layne thing. he was a major player in their sound, even if he was just a singer.

This is great news! I bet they'll release a couple albums too. My sources say one of them is titled after two colours and the
other is named after dinos & religion.

I heard rumors about a third album being titled after Giraffe Penises.
