12 tracks? Colour me excited.
Song was awesome.
|
| |
Very good, this album should be another winner for them.
|
| |
Hated Parallax so not sure if I should even listen to this.
|
| |
Song rules
|
| |
I liked this more than Parallax if that makes any difference. I couldn't really get into that EP.
|
| |
boring
|
| |
And Sputnikmusic jizzes all over itself in unison.
|
| |
Shits will be shat.
|
| |
OH MUH GAH. Song rules and I need new underwear.
|
| |
GET A JUMPSUIT. GO TO SPACE.
|
| |
pretty cool song
|
| |
I want a spacesuit.
|
| |
FUCK the soft part rules.
|
| |
This was pretty awesome. A little different from their previous 2 releases.
|
| |
this will probably be better than the last ep and TGM
the soft part is unf
|
| |
Damn, that breakdown-ish part at 2:13 is sweet.
|
| |
Definitely enjoying it. Could probably do without all the strange sounds, but the middle section is pretty legit.
|
| |
So much for waiting until the leak to listen to anything.
|
| |
Yeah I'm expecting this to sit behind Colors and Alaska. But we'll see.
|
| |
7:20 is so reminiscent of Alaska. :3
|
| |
Man those pre-order bundles are interesting. I guess I HAVE always wanted a BTBAM themed space suit and some freeze dried ice cream.
|
| |
meh
|
| |
The one thing that surprised me about this track was how weak the drums were for Blake's usual caliber.
|
| |
im glad its a 12 track 72 minute album instead of like 5
|
| |
http://www.indiemerch.com/metalbladerecords/item/15603
ummmm BTBAM ice cream????
|
| |
12 tracks? sweet.
pretty stoked to listen to this tonight.
|
| |
I like it on first listen, but I'm a fanboy so I don't really dislike anything they do, but it sounds better than what was on the EP.
Hopefully the rest of the album isn't quite as heavy as this song was. I like it when softer parts are more prevalent. Still though, pumped as fuck. Will review this.
|
| |
Mmmm, space ice cream.
|
| |
Over ambitious, as expected, but a solid track.
|
| |
I liked this a lot.
|
| |
this is so good. Love the nods to silent circus and alaska. Really looking forward to this now, but I'm a fanboy so eh, what ya expect? :P
|
| |
The softer part at 4:42 is so amazing..
|
| |
Gonna pre-order my ass off for this.
|
| |
enjoyed probably :45 seconds of it.
so basically shit track
|
| |
Rules hard
|
| |
This is great. So much better than anything I've heard since Colors. The beginning is very Alaska like.
|
| |
A few decent parts but nothing new from this guys. It's a shame because they always seem to one up themselves but this just seems lazy.
|
| |
Fuck me this is sweet
|
| |
eh.
Tommy is easily one my least favorite vocalists in this genre.
|
| |
I am so excited for this.
|
| |
I never knew you liked BtBaM omni
|
| |
"
And Sputnikmusic jizzes all over itself in unison."
you mean and sputnikmusic bandwagon hates all over itself.
song is pretty cool.
|
| |
Yah, I was lying Ty... you guys were just having so much fun in here and I wanted to be a part of it
because I'm bored over here in the corner all by my self. Since you called me out on it though I'll
just say, I can't wait for this to come out even though The Great Misdirect was the fucking worst.
|
| |
Very David Gilmour starting at 3:30!!!
|
| |
Sounded kind of dull to me
|
| |
i love btbam but this was kind of disappointing tbh. hopefully its a grower.
|
| |
It's BTBAM, can it ever be good?
|
| |
Doesn't do anything for me.... at all. Oh well.
|
| |
Just like most of their songs, there's like one or two cool parts, and the rest just feels like a chore to listen to.
|
| |
Glad to be enjoying the song. Haven't listened to this band in a long time and this should be the thing to pull me back in.
|
| |
I will more than agree it is nothing new. Not even close. Sounds like anything and everything they have ever done. But I love everything they've ever done so it rules imo. Tommy's cleans in this take the cake
|
| |
to me its everything btbam amplified.
|
| |
Just like most of their songs, there's like one or two cool parts, and the rest just feels like
a chore to listen to.
Hey someone on this site is right for a change. Pretty bad for a song when the best part is the end
it.
|
| |
Should have wrapped up earlier, it kind of got old after 7:20.
BTBAM do suffer from a lot of filler that seems to blend together between the more interesting parts.
|
| |
i'm hyped for this. will listen when i get back from work. if we're talking 72 minutes for 12 songs, maybe we can actually see some normal song lengths again
|
| |
There's two ways this will work
Everyone on your left, feel free to jump up and down out of joy for 20 minutes (or however long the song is)
Everyone on your right, feel free to call it boring and hate on it for the sake of hating it
|
| |
"hate on it for the sake of hating it"
Fanboy logic.
|
| |
Loved some parts, but some of it was pretty boring. Need more parts like at 7 minutes....
|
| |
did that really need to be 10 minutes long? The ending had like zero-balls.
|
| |
This band has kind of done everything in the playbook. They are getting stale now.
|
| |
"im glad its a 12 track 72 minute album instead of like 5"
wow, I might actually listen to this if that's true.
|
| |
"Just like most of their songs, there's like one or two cool parts, and the rest just feels like a chore to listen to."
this so fucking much.
|
| |
"The one thing that surprised me about this track was how weak the drums were for Blake's usual caliber."
I actually quite disagree with this - Blake played some really interestingly syncopated stuff in this song, and it was a really fun listen for me in that regard.
His drumming sems to have gotten much more creative in the past 6 or so years - Colors was Blast Beats Inc., but the Great Misdirect was much more innovative and the latest EP was refreshing on his behalf. He and Dan Briggs seem to be the most reliable members of BTBAM.
|
| |
Song is rad.
|
| |
Song rules to the max.
|
| |
Like the middle section
|
| |
Thank god they decided to stream this because I couldn't stand to listen to the live versions of Telos any longer. I love the King Crimson mid section to this song, the end is pretty badass as well but overall the production seems really awkward. Hopefully it sounds good on vinyl because I might preorder it since I'm liking this more than the ep and TGM.
|
| |
The Contortionist's big brother are back to show them whats up.
|
| |
finally
|
| |
Both BtBaM and The Contortionist are just boring, really. And I gave their EP a 3. I still think it's just... I dunno. Not my thing. Like religion.
'cept btbam nevur hurt any1 rite guise
Yeah, I really don't like this, at all.
|
| |
So good.
|
| |
This is the bit where half of sputnik whine and the other half gush
|
| |
came for the thread
|
| |
btbam the dark knight rises amirite
never saw the big appeal of this band but they're ok
|
| |
That fucking fluidity. I was hoping Specular Reflection was a hint of things to come, and I was absolutely right.
|
| |
sooooooo much boner
|
| |
not as good as colors
|
| |
Pretty sweet stuff
|
| |
I can't wait to hear the rest of this. I'm gonna jam the fuck out of my Alaska vinyl until this comes out and maybe even Colors for old times sake.
|
| |
I liked this more than I usually like BtBAM, liked all of it except the last bit which descended into the usual BtBAM mess.
|
| |
On a nerdy sci-fi related note Kevin Smith aka Silent Bob just quoted Anakin Skywalker as being an "Emo kid" on History Channel.
|
| |
Kinda stoked for this now.
|
| |
@OmahaStylee94
His drumming only really shined during the soft parts to me. The heavy parts were pretty simple. Not saying simple is bad, but for him it is surprising because usually I'm like wtf did he just do that was insane. But I definitely agree he has gotten more creative. (i.e. Disease, Injury, Madness)
|
| |
Oh and have you watched him on youtube play the entirety of Parallax? Ridic
|
| |
kicked my ass. Can't wait to see them on the Slaughter tour. Band is consistently great so I was expecting nothing below fantastic. I would actually love to hear them expand on TGM's kind of sound. Fuckin loved everything they've put out except for their debut. I can hear the nods to Silent circus in this. Album will slay. I will now prematurely, fanboyishly, declare AOTY. I can't jizz enough to do it justice.
And Tommy is awesome.
|
| |
Mary Lou Williams is the worst thing ever made
|
| |
Is this just same old btbam or anything worth checking?
|
| |
^ It's BtBaM, so if you like BtBaM it's worth checking.
|
| |
LOL potsy. If you thought I was serious you're losing your touch
|
| |
^ Well-played assumption, sir. I'll have to keep honing my craft and then I'll come back for more.
|
| |
Hey guys BTBAM are like the beatles.
Fight.
|
| |
Paul's solo to end the song melts face. Stoked for the new album for sure
|
| |
awesome song
|
| |
I liked this better than Hypersleep at least. Hope the rest is better, that EP bore me to tears.
|
| |
I've been bored off these guys for a bit, but I really dug this track. really loking forward to this.
|
| |
I thought it was good. Based on what theyve said about it so far, its really varied, so Im excited for the weirder parts.
|
| |
shit
|
| |
i like btbam but this sucks
|
| |
I didn't really care for or against this group, and this song didn't change that. So take that as you might.
|
| |
sounds like all their stuff, not too impressed.
|
| |
Rules hard, even more excited for this. Also, 12 tracks? Nice. Hopefully they arent overly long and such.
|
| |
I'm not good at determining this, but is the production too clean compared to their other albums? Or are there just weird sounds I'm hearing. Still a great track though.
|
| |
this fucking sucks besides the blues solo
|
| |
I love btbam. On first listen, that was so so. The middle part lost me. We'll see how the rest turns out.
|
| |
My fuck... I'm in love.
|
| |
sooo fucking good
|
| |
jesus this rules, justified the preorder
|
| |
This song is so fucking boring. Should probably have expected that from them though.
|
| |
The sections with harsh vocals always lose me. Just boring.
|
| |
this just seems like standard btbam does this band ever evolve
yah this sounds just like their self-titled
|
| |
seems like people either love or hate this band. i don't really care for them much but i don't really get what there is to despise about them either. they're just kind of meh psuedo-progressive metalcore.
|
| |
that was very profound
|
| |
yeah i suppose it sort of was! thanks!
|
| |
Aub, seriously the things that you write hurt my brain
|
| |
man you don't get my schtick yet do you?
|
| |
you don't have "schtick"
|
| |
Wow, i'm impressed with his voice on this one. I usually hate this guys voice. I don't notice much change in it though. Hm . weird.
|
| |
"you don't have "schtick""
are you graveyard? just checking, i've been wondering for awhile.
|
| |
are you retarded
|
| |
idk maybe! ^_^
|
| |
I enjoy the more raw sounding stuff I wish they didn't fucking jerk off with the instrumental breaks and such. it's annoying and ruins the momentum. Pink Floyd and screaming vocals is a whorrible mix.
|
| |
to me its everything btbam amplified.
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
|
| |
"I enjoy the more raw sounding stuff I wish they didn't fucking jerk off with the instrumental breaks and such. it's annoying and ruins the momentum. Pink Floyd and screaming vocals is a whorrible mix."
Apparently you didn't realize that they've always been about that trippy floyd shit and besides that mid section has way more of a King Crimson feel. I do miss the more raw sound they had on Alaska, it was so much heavier but this is pretty heavy compared to TGM or The Hypersleep Dialogues.
|
| |
my album will be better
|
| |
So it's skramz with awful screaming?
|
| |
This song was rather boring to me... and why does BTBAM always have way too long of songs?
|
| |
I loved The Hypersleep Dialogues but wasn't too fond of their other stuff (a lot of it grew on me though). This song was great, stoked for the album.
|
| |
This sounds so much better than the last EP. They are back!
|
| |
^ Calm yo ass down.
|
| |
the first couple of minutes has some of their best riffage in a while. if the rest of the album is similar to this it might end up being my fav btbam
|
| |
Sounds like these guys have been listening to a lot of Strapping Young Lad and Pink Floyd.
I like this for the most part.
|
| |
As is typical, Blake and Dan pull through with consistently outstanding performances. Some aspects of
the song seemed unneeded, but that goes with BTBAM territory. All in all a pretty solid release. Album
should be good, I hope.
3:15 this song gets a great Progressive Metal/Psychedelic Rock vibe to it. Very akin to Pink Floyd.
|
| |
meh.. the transition back to the growls from the cleaner section was straight-up bad imo. and i agree with rosa when he said:
"and whats with the stupid sounds over that nice solo"
but the riffage at the start was sweet, reminded me of The Silent Circus. and the clean mid-section sounded great. tommy has improved too
|
| |
Honestly the most stale part of this band these days to me is the heavy parts. The soft stuff is what I look forward to. Ever since Colors. Pre-Colors their heaviness was what made them. Colors onward the soft stuff does. Just my opinion
|
| |
BTBAM definately aren't a song band, I find it hard to judge these guys by a single track. And this was no exception. I just hope (and I 99% know) the album will be a better listen altogether.
|
| |
UH? I THIS THINK GOOD?
|
| |
Song was good but felt like a combination of alaska/TGM and Parallax and no new ideas. but still was good.
|
| |
Batbam
|
| |
Honestly the most stale part of this band these days to me is the heavy parts. The soft stuff is what I look forward to. Ever since Colors. Pre-Colors their heaviness was what made them. Colors onward the soft stuff does. Just my opinion
So fucking true. Although this does sound more Alaska'ish then the last two LPs.
|
| |
Beeteebam
|
| |
its like their trying to be king crimson and rush while still being metalcore and the biggest thing ever
though i used to really love them, i personally think the song is utter shit
|
| |
Why are so many people saying that they didn't like the EP? The ep is easily their best
release...they actually show something called creative restraint.
But I agree with everybody saying that the clean part is the best. They really need to do more of
that stuff. I don't really even like their heavy parts that much...
|
| |
After having listened to this several times now I've concluded the song definitely should've ended after the soft part/build and never have gone back heavy. That transition is pretty horrendous.
|
| |
It's spelled "Baja"
|
| |
ok after listening to TSC again and the new song a few more times it sounds like these guys are getting better at writing parts but worse at writing transitions. like TSC had some forgettable riffs here and there but they all flowed into each other pretty well but in the new song, each section is really solid standalone but the transitions between them suck.. if that makes sense
i still really like it tho, its just that some transitions stick out like hell. like the one at 7:00 sounds like complete shit. also
After having listened to this several times now I've concluded the song definitely should've ended after the soft part/build and never have gone back heavy. That transition is pretty horrendous.[2]
|
| |
am i the only person who didn't give 2 fucks about this
|
| |
Hopefully the rest of the album has something a bit different. I've only heard Telos, but to me it sounds like they havn't expanded their sound that much.
Still. The section starting at 3:20 is hectic.
|
| |
no "it's" not
I was only messing with you. Relax
|
| |
Why are so many people saying that they didn't like the EP? The ep is easily their best
release...they actually show something called creative restraint.
It's the only album they have that I can listen to all the way through now. I actually think that Lunar Wilderness may be their best song.
|
| |
^ No. That title belongs to "Ants of the Sky". I mean after all, the first line he screams in that song totally sounds like he says "My dick just farted again!"
|
| |
lunar wilderness is brought down by the bullshit heavy section in the middle. specular reflection might be their best. or white walls. or mordecai. or ants of the sky. theyre all just so good
|
| |
lunar wilderness is brought down by the bullshit heavy section in the middle.
But it's followed by epic quads.
|
| |
First part of the song is pretty dm
|
| |
God damn there's nothing in this song btbam haven't done before
|
| |
^ Two trains of thought for a band's new material:
1. they didn't innovate enough, it's all the same
2. wtf why did they change, why can't they make another [band-defining album]
|
| |
Thing is btbam have done this for the past three releases, man.
|
| |
Irony.
|
| |
Don't think Nash1311 has ever made a comment that isn't spot-on. Hats off to you, sir.
|
| |
hated this song at first, then it grew on me after a few listens and it is fucken awesome
|
| |
"^ No. That title belongs to "Ants of the Sky". I mean after all, the first line he screams in that song totally sounds like he says "My dick just farted again!""
Naw man it's "My dick tastes funny today"
|
| |
Song has some cool moments, like that part around 2:30.
But God Damn, that vocalist is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.
|
| |
Well this was pretty good.
|
| |
"hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha"
Some things never change eh?
|
| |
"Don't think Nash1311 has ever made a comment that isn't spot-on. Hats off to you, sir."
If you're being serious, thanks bro ilu
@meatsalad
Oh shit, totally
