Lamb of God makes a Statement
2012-07-07 by Ikarus14 | 100 Comments
While Randy Blythe, vocalist of Lamb of God, is still being held in Czech jail under charges of manslaughter, the band have released an official statement on their website regarding the incident. They have been reluctant to do so earlier due to the "fluid nature of the situation and the constantly changing information that even we receive daily". Blythe was arrested close to the end of June due to an incident in Prague two years ago when a crowd member rushed the stage after several attempts to get past security, prompting Blythe to push the fan back into the crowd and onto his head, resulting in a fatal injury.

"In the two years since, we were never notified of anything related to this incident."

"Randy is our brother and we assure you, we are all staying very positive for him, working endlessly behind the scenes to provide any and all assistance possible."

"The best we can do is to stay positive and continue to support our friend that we know is innocent."

"We know that justice will prevail and we will continue to do our part to support our friend."

Perhaps in the seven days that have passed since his bail, they threw him back in? Maybe he never made bail at all and really just escaped.

I think it's really the security's fault for not stopping him from going onstage. It's always dangerous to rush a band like that so what did he expect to happen? Blythe did what every other band member would do and the result was entirely unintentional. Full support for him all the way.

Manslaughter is a weird thing. You're basically being charged for an accident. The basis is that you should've known your actions could lead to death, but how can you always be sure? Here, he did what many other people probably would've done and if the guy's forcing himself onto the stage, what else could he have done?

Oh wait, I'm not familiar with the law in New Zealand. My apologies. Here in the US we have what is referred to as a "crime of passion," in other words no premeditation. But there is the intent to kill, which I think is what you were referring to. So you're right, drunk driving could not possibly be counted as murder (although I wasn't arguing with you there).

@Chuck and andcas: The video shows that first time the guy actually got up there untouched and instead of "rushing" or "attacking" Randy, he did a little pose, turned around and stage dived. Sure, maybe LoG doesn't want people on stage at all. That's fine, but it should have been clear by the third time that he wasn't there to assassinate a band member and was no threat of danger. Randy should've left it to security.

"he should have czech'd himself before he wrecked himself" [2]

and I agree with Ikarus14. The whole point of security is to prevent people from getting up on stage and ruining the show and to break up hardcore fights. Plus it's a metal concert so why would anyone expect less than a push? Even if you get hurt, it's kinda your fault for going. I didn't watch the video but if the dude came by three times it sounds like Randy kind of had enough since security wasn't doing anything and once again, it shouldn't be a big deal to get pushed at a metal concert. The dude who jumped on stage sounds like a jackass and maybe a little intoxicated.

Also the biggest thing that makes this whole situation ridiculous is the fact that this was never brought up until TWO YEARS LATER. Like when LoG booked the show at Czech shouldn't someone have clued them in that "Oh yeah, Randy is still wanted for Manslaughter from that show two years ago. See you soon! *smiley face*" Sounds like no one gave a shit about the kid and decided since they were in town to just be a bunch of cocksmokers.

I'm just saying, even if he is wanted for manslaughter and is responsible, why do they care now?

TheMoreira
July 10th 2012
7182 Comments

He is not responsible for anything, and that's because he didn't do squat.

And again, publicity. Other than that, those people are retarded. Going after Randy for something that's just so all over the place, calling it manslaughter ffs. Fuck me i'd dropkick whoever is doing this to Randy off the stage myself.
