Californian black metal act Ash Borer are streaming a track from their forthcoming album via Stereogum. The track is titled "Descended Lamentations" and is the opener of the group's new album, Cold of Ages, set for release in August through Profound Lore.

Who cares if it's fucking polished? I enjoy quite a bit of black metal and of course a lot of it has poor production, but I don't go into a song/album hoping or wanting it to sound like shit.
Song is pretty awesome and the album is probably gonna be stellar.

I was going to point out that Woe is a good example of clean(ish) production that doesn't fit with the music, but i decided poke fun at you digging them while bashing lofi production. I hope there are no hard feelings, bro.

What murky/dirty production are you idiots talking about? Do any of you actually own a physical copy of this stuff, or have you just been listen to tape rips of the past material that you downloaded off the internet? If they had released this on a cassette first you'd all be jizzing yourselves.
This production is barely different sounding from the s/t LP. With the exception of that rehearsal demo this band has always had a pretty clear production.

I own Ash Borer material on both cassette and vinyl, and if you think this new track sounds the same production-wise as earlier stuff then lol. Granted it's not necessarily 'clean', but it is definitely crisper.

Production was still too clean. Their older stuff was noticeably of lower quality production-wise. Not "Burzum" bad, but a little messy and maybe sounding as if recorded live. This is noticeably cleaner.
