Thoughts 1 minute in: heaviest riffing I've ever heard from this band.
| |
yeah it reverts more to their older style towards the end
idk though the riffs are still kind of ehhh
| |
I'm digging it pretty hard
| |
will listen later
| |
"idk though the riffs are still kind of ehhh"
my thinking exactly
| |
If Marrow was any indication we all knew that this wouldn't have brilliant riffing, and while it still isn't fantastic there were more riffs in this song that I liked than were on almost all of Marrow.
| |
2 Minutes in. Not at all what I expected, and I fuckin love it.
| |
Good - very good, in parts. Still (like Marrow) found lacking when compared to their previous work.
| |
at least the production is a lot better than marrow
and i agreed after one listen i found more to like about it than almost all of marrow
| |
Listening now.
Thank god, the production is so much better than marrow.
| |
Yeah the production is good, the heaviness and intensity is good (and rather unexpected), the atmosphere is good - but now that I've finished it I can say that nothing really blew me away. Still very solid, though.
| |
fuck yea!
| |
"I can say that nothing really blew me away. Still very solid, though."
my thoughts exactly, it's nice, but I can't think of too much more this band can do that would be innovative to their sound
| |
its not even that i want them to innovate i just want them to write better riffs
| |
all these bandwagoners with their one song EPs.
Intro of that song was boring.
| |
true but it was more inventive than your lame comments and you thinking you're smarter than the average bear
| |
The intro was kinda silly.
Digging: Polkadot Cadaver - Last Call in Jonestown
| |
you mean the part when you came into this thread?
| |
Oh look, we've got a badass over here.
| |
nope only Wolf-possessive is a bad ass. everyone knows that, what shall we do next high and mighty
| |
Mannnn I hate the spoken word stuff. Intro could have been badass.
| |
agreed
| |
Not really what I was expecting but not at all disappointing, might grab this when released
| |
it wasnt great, but the ending did blow me away.
| |
can we keep this pg-13 please
| |
BirthRite, ruining one thread at a time.
| |
respecs demanding respect since his inception and still doesn't have any lol
| |
Goes better as you progress it. Really enjoyed it.
| |
I REALLY want to love Agalloch. But every time, there is something about them that I just can't grasp. "Ashes Against the Grain" is one of the most incredible albums I've heard, but the My Fortress is Burning trilogy just kills it for me. I really don't like those songs, though the rest is flawless. This is a 21 min song that would be really cool without the corny spoken word stuff and the gritty vocals. For me, at least. Still a great song, better than what I was expecting to say the least
| |
John's vocals on this are awesome
| |
It'll probably grow on me
| |
i dont usually like samples tacked on to songs but i thought the one at the end ended the song on a perfect note.
| |
Damn good song
Digging: Scale The Summit - The Migration
| |
damn, i need to check this one out
Digging: Mouth of the Architect - Quietly
| |
His vocals during actual black metal sections were a bit surprising to hear.
Digging: Streetlight Manifesto - The Hands That Thieve
| |
Where is Noctus? Did he have a heart attack when he heard this song or what? I expected this thread
to be covered with quirky emoticons by now. Odd.
| |
lol
| |
Can't wait to pick this up on vinyl at the toronto show.
Song rules.
| |
will listen when i'm not wasted. excited!! :]
| |
:]
| |
okay i just listened twice and, well, i don't like it at all :[
hopefully my mind will change though
| |
Listened once, nothing really struck me as that interesting or engaging. Will give it a few more tries.
| |
That's not possible. It must be because you're still drunk. Sleep it off and get back to us in the morning.
| |
Have these guys ever put out a comp with all their EP material on it?
Digging: Calibre - Spill
| |
no comps are gay
| |
average...better than Marrow but still not very good
Digging: Erlen Meyer - Erlen Meyer
| |
yeah they are just solidifying that they are pretty much all out of ideas
| |
is it 128kb/s when you stream it!??! because all DL links around the web are 128kb/s and why the hell would i want to listen to that
| |
shut up
| |
hyper is a jerk
| |
Nees moar acoustic. Seriously, it was like 21 minutes of the same. I'm used to long tracks, and anything under 10 minutes seems pretty short to me nowadays... Yet, it was just too monotonous. Good, but kinda boring.
Digging: William Basinski - The Disintegration Loops II
| |
kinda bummed i won't be in town for their date. sucks
| |
yeah this is pretty bad
| |
okay listened again this morning and it ruled, holy shit
need to listen to this when i'm at home with my sound system :]
| |
Highest 2 since BTBAM!
| |
stfu
| |
can't stop listeninggggg [:
| |
i love you, baseline :]
maybe one day it'll be mutual [:
| |
I thought you loved everyone
doesn't that make the idea of 'love' meaningless though
| |
i love love baseline, then!! [:
| |
well Noctus approves, and that's all that matters
| |
Riff at 6:14 is pretty killer.
| |
Wish I could unobjectively love something the way Noctus loves Agalloch.
| |
yeah this is pretty bad [2]
| |
bad compared to their other their other stuff yeah
otherwise no
| |
I find this song a lot like Marrow only that it takes listen upon listen upon listen (with undivided attention) to get into. This wouldn't be inherently bad... but Agalloch is already a band that requires multiple listens to click - they're just alienating prospective fans/fans that don't LOVE them
| |
They're also alienating fans who do love them by putting out music that just isn't that good.
| |
yeah it's nothing groundbreaking but it's not terrible either, ah well
| |
so it went from "meh, with some pretty good parts" to "fuck yeah this is awesome" after the second listen. marrow of the spirit is the only disappointment in their discography so far.
| |
What's with all of the Marrow hate? :/
| |
they're all silly billies :]
| |
oh no not catchy
| |
Their first albums are some of the most up-beat, almost "positive" BM I've ever heard. I liked this song but I'm not afraid that they're running out of ideas. It's not like they haven't used their EPs to experiment with different styles before.
| |
this isnt experimenting its just boring
| |
i love you hyp
