Tool Planning to Record Summer 2012 2012-06-06 by Glassjawx | 108 Replies | 9818 Views |
It's been nearly 6 good years since Tool released 10,000 Days back in 2006. Already
surpassing their regular time-length between albums (5 years), they have left us to wonder
exactly when a new album might be released. We've looked far and wide for any credible
news regarding a another album, often to no avail. Recently, there were rumors of a new
album being released in May, and May has passed with no new Tool. So when is Tool going to
give us something new?
Let's be honest here - most news about the progress of Tool often comes to us through
messages that don't always make the most sense. After years of reading vague, cryptic
writings, false rumors, and off the wall ramblings hinting at the possibility of a new
album, many fans have learned to approach new info with a sense of distrust. It's
something that has become a staple in the Tool community, something nearly every Tool
fan is aware of.
But this time around, we're seeing something new in the way Tool is communicating with us.
We're being given direct, concrete answers. Tool drummer Danny Carey, while taking part in
a recent "Artist Spotlight" interview, clearly states - "I’m hoping we’ll get in the
studio by June or July and start tracking. That’s the plan anyway." He is then asked how
long it will take to record the album once the band is in the studio. "The tracking part
I’d say [takes] two to three months then probably a month to mix and master and that’s
it." To see the footage of this being said, follow this three-part interview linked here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2t1lt99CWnA
So there you have it - concrete information revealing that the members of Tool are
planning to record their new album this Summer. Expect a Fall/Winter release, and be very
excited. Kudos.

I still highly doubt it and this is my favorite band. They hardly ever stick to what they say.

yeah sure, whatever.

I don't like this band as much as everyone else but a new record would be good.

I thought 10,000 days was a great album. just not as epic as Lateralus.

Pretty much where I'm at with Tool as well. I'm anticipating a new album cuz I know it'll have that one song (maybe two) that just blow you away. But IMO these guys cannot make an album I could listen to all the way through.

10,000 Days was a mixed bag. It had some great songs, but there was some ideas in say, Right in Two that felt ripped from older songs. It's been what, 6 years since they last came out with an album? I hope they've grown a lot more since then.
|
| |
Liked 10,000 days as well, If this is true I'll probably cream my pants. For now at least I'll contain my semen for the drop of the album.

WHY DON'T YOU KIDS LIKE THE TOOL?

Did it take you three months to write this article, Glassjawx? Seems like you put a lot of effort into it. Lol.

This may have been already been posted on Sputnik a while ago.
Regardless, I saw the video and read the articles about this months ago. Get with the program.

This band's fans are crazy. I have a few friends that will probably drop out of life for few months once this album drops
and live in their bedrooms with they're bongs listening to this on repeat until some St. Bernard rescue dogs find them and
drag them out to safety.

Something like that. It looks like I'm the only looking forward to this because Tool makes great music.

To the writer of this news article,
Do you know what the term "hoping" means?

Naysayers everywhere. I'm "hoping" that they release an album this year, that way we get a Tool release and a Deftones release in the same year. That would be downright sick.

That's the issue Glass your article is misleading. You said set to record but that's a false statement. I'm not questioning your
eagerness for a new release. You're being flamed because you need to fix the heading of your article. I'm sure your cool but
it's not rocket science.
|
| |
Gotcha.
|
| |
hahahaha this is literally the worst written article i've ever read on here
|
| |
"Something like that. It looks like I'm the only looking forward to this because Tool makes great music."
don't get me wrong i'm looking forward to it, but jizzing over info that's been out for a while and writing 3 paragraphs acting like its some sort of conspiracy if they're going to release a new album is annoying
...oh and it's not an "artist spotlight" interview, it's a friggin' vic firth interview holy shit
|
| |
Vic Firth's "Artist Spotlight" series. I tried making that edit, but for some reason it didn't fix.
I made my account today and saw that this news wasn't up on here, so I jumped right into writing an article. Made it as long as I felt comfortable with and hit submit.
|
| |
he said himself "i'm HOPING" to get into the studio to start tracking in june or july, so this isn't really news, we all know there'll be a new tool album, why not just wait until there's set in stone facts about recording/release

i wouldn't believe anything that comes from the mouths of those pretentious fucks. The only source I would trust concerning new Tool would be someone rabidly anxious to make $$$$$, ie. their label.
|

Better bands take 2 maybe 3 years to make a cd why does a band that doesn't seem to change its style all that much take 6 years

I thoroughly enjoyed reading that news article.
|
| |
I learned to stop waiting, begin masturbating when it has an official release date (tracks recorded and everything), and jizz for an hour when listening the album. (followed by a couple of bong hits in order to not focus on the testicular pain that will follow.)
Doesn't bother me that they release a record every 5-6 years, at least they can live by doing their thing, whether it'd be wine or kickass psychedelic paintings. Also I'm soooo going to drum after this.
|
| |
They can afford to take 6 years off between albums because they've made a shit load of money already.
|
| |
Maybe they were smart enough to not get only 10% of album sales from their label
|
| |
I just wasted a full minute of my life reading that piece of shit news article.
|
| |
You people are just jealous because Tool would kick your fav band's ass any day.
|
| |
Oh my god I think I just got totally trolled.
|
| |
I wonder how many tracks will be pure silence or whale song on this one.
|
| |
@ gabriels - no, just your typical tool fan writing about potential studio dates like its the biggest thing since printed text
|
| |
I think they get better with each new album. Definitely looking forward to this. I have been to around 90 concerts in my life so far and Tool on the 10,000 Days tour was one of my top 5.

McLovin! NICE!
|
| |
all the members of tool are involved in many other bands/projects. most bands that put out album after album frequently are not heavily involved in other projects. i wish tool worked faster but they have busy lives and when they do finally put out a product, it is a very well conceived and polished one. take all the time they want, as long as it happens eventually. theres other music in the meantime.
|
| |
Dear Christ the Tool fanboyism is getting painful.
That aside, whatever. I liked Lateralus, Undertow, and 10,000 Days but like most people have said I'm not going to bother getting my hopes up until some actual information drops.
And who gives a shit about how the news article is written? Seems the fun thing to do on news articles is to talk about how shit it's written rather than talk about, you know, THE FUCKING ARTICLE.

As if they have been working on the album for the past couple years...... they just started working on it recently so unless it takes another 6 years... they probably are just going to shit this one out.

I kinda thought they were done, so I'll gladly welcome another album.
