Chris Martin from Coldplay makes a live tribute to Adam Yauch from the Beastie Boys (who died earlier that
day, 5/4/12) playing Fight for your Right (To Party) by the Beastie Boys, Live at The Hollywood Bowl.

Saw this yesterday. It's cool that they're paying their respects to Adam, but holy shit that has to be the gayest cover of any song I've ever heard.
|
| |
still fags
|
| |
yea this is really bad
|
| |
It would have been more fascinating if they kept the energy of that song rather than mellow it down.

I didn't think it was possible to pussify this song, but leave it to Coldplay to pull that off.

It's out of respect though. So what if it isn't that great; it isn't like they had a lot of time to prepare.
|
| |
It's fucking garbage. Fuck Coldplay and fuck you Dark if you like these fags.
|
| |
Definitely nothing wrong with this.
|
| |
I hate Coldplay but this was cool

Colplay suck, but they paid their respects live after one day's preparation, I'm gonna cut them some slack, even if FFYRTP is a shit stain of a song

What? Did u guys expect to see Chris Martin rap or something? They're paying tribute the only way they know how.

I dont know why I was expecting them to play the actual version. I was perplexed at the fact they chose this song, I'm not a fan
of their music but when I saw the video I was amazed. They turned a legendary party song into a soothing ballad.
It's good.

ugh I hate almost everyone commenting.
almost.

I don't think you all quite get it...
I'm pretty sure this arrangement was made on the night of his passing.
|
| |
Plus, it's Coldplay. Of course they're gonna cover a track in a style that suits them and they're used to doing
|
| |
Yeah this was a nice gesture, I hate the band as much as the next person but c'mon, chris martin doing rap vocals would be 1000 times more awkward.

He didn't need to sing. It's awkward and reeks of self-serving. RHCP played a tasteful vocal-less cover
of Whatcha Want. Kiedis could've rapped a bit of Beastie, but didn't, and for good reason.
This looks/sounds/is Chris Martin using the death as an opportunity to suck himself off in front of an
audience

No, it's a harmless tribute
|
| |
They paid respects to him, who cares how it sounds? It's the thought that counts.
|
| |
The arrangement wasn't made on the night. They played it at APW after the B-Boys pulled out. Jay-Z also did No Sleep Till Brooklyn in ultimately incredible fashion.
|
| |
AWWWWW MOM YOU'RE JUST JEALOUS IT'S THE BEA-STIE-BOYS! Great tribute to a legend
|
| |
gotta say i'm kinda shocked by the amount of hate this is getting. i thought this was very classy and respectful.
