Olympics Call Upon Keith Moon

2012-04-14 by andcas | 36 Comments
Keith Moon, notorious ex-drummer of The Who, has been dead since 1978 but those in charge of the 2012 London Olympics must have not received the memo. Organizers sent out a personal request to the band, via email, asking if Moon would be ever so kind as to be a guest performer for the crowd in attendance. Bill Curbishley, who was lucky enough to be the first to read over the invitation, decided to have a little fun with the mistaken information.

Curbishley playfully wrote back, “Keith now resides in Golders Green crematorium, having lived up to The Who's anthemic line 'I hope I die before I get old'.” In being the generous fellow that he is, Curbishley did offer to get the rest of the gang together around a candlelit table for an séance to summon Moon’s spirit. Until they are successful in making contact it looks like the festivities will just have to settle for the remaining members in his place.

Dr. Dre didn’t want to leave Nate out of his and Snoop’s headline performance at the West Coast festival, and will incorporate his old friend and collaborator into the set via hologram.

I believe they are also holding the athletics on the Thames, weightlifting at Wembley Stadium & Diving at Old Trafford. C. Ronaldo is favoured for the Gold in the latter.

I guess their idea of having Keith Moon and John Bonham drum solo dueling is half ruined.
