Slightly looking forward to this. Hopefully will be a little bit better than Zeitgeist and the songs that have already been released off of Teargarden.

Goddamn Billy and his bald head.

Saw 5 of these songs live last fall, and they all kicked ass. Barring some sort of terrible production/studio mishap, Billy is gonna surprise all of you. If their live show was any indication, Billy has found a way to indulge in the old Gish/Siamese Dream sound without sounding like he is rehashing things. Quasar and Panopticon are classic Pumpkins rockers, Pinwheels is ridiculously pretty, Pale Horse is one of the saddest, most heartfelt songs Corgan has written, and the title track will go down as one of the best epics the Pumpkins have ever released. Cannot wait for this album.

This isn't Smashing Pumpkins, it's Billy Corgan with a new band of youngsters. Jimmy Chamberlain isn't even there.

I move that they change their name to Billy's Kids.

The Smashing Pumpkins was always Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlain did his part but those other 2 were pointless when it came to the actual music.

Notice they were all cowritten by Corgan, Billy was fine without the occasional help Iha, concidering like over 90% of all the albums were written by Billy

So, when have Smashing Pumpkins ever been punk?

Deadwing42
March 29th 2012

Billy went through a really bad phase after the Pumpkins broke up. I truly believe that Oceania will be his emergence out of that phase. The show I saw in October was one of the best concerts I have ever been to- and no, I am not a blind fan. I'll admit that about half of Zeitgeist was garbage, the Teargarden project was okay in parts but overall a massive failure. I even saw a show in 2010 that was a huge disappointment- Billy was overindulgent, and the set list sucked. But there has been a massive turnaround since then, at least in live performance.
