Austin Carlile: Double Vocal Duty
2012-03-03 by NothingForSomething | 70 Replies | 4091 Views

The recent departure of Of Mice & Men's bassist/clean vocalist Shayley Bourget (his statement regarding the
situation can be found here [a]http://www.youtube.com/watch?
feature=player_embedded&v=RnBW9Qhfma0[/a]), the band has recently announced that frontman Austin
Carlile will now also be doing clean vocals for the band.

The statement can be found on their Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/ofmice?sk=wall

The band will also be hitting the studio soon to record new songs featuring Austin's clean vocals.

I don't like this band and now I like them less. I like how all these bands just decide their vocalists can start doing cleans. A little studio magic and they're all set. Dude's a douche anyway.

Well there goes one of the main reasons to listen to OMAM. I do enjoy his screams though, Austin is a monster, but he sucks more on cleans than a hooker sucks dick on a busy night in Vegas.

KSK1

He's a good screamer and he has a very different sounding voice but his range really isn't too good. He basically has that one screechy pitch and never really tries to stray too far from it.

^ This will probably suck because Austin is a douche bag and probably lived off of Shay's vocals/lyrics. He could work on his singing and work everything out but I doubt he will. The Flood was a needle in haystack.

ASnideRemark
March 4th 2012

This is how I think it will play out, they'll start recording tracks, Austin will realize that he can't keep up with it, then they will just add a ton of random effects and instruments, call it "experimental" and release it as an EP to make up for the shitty cleans, then they will take a "creative break" to go find a new vocalist.
Just my prediction anyway.

Well I re-listened to Ben Threw just to see what his vocals were like, if the whole album has vocals like that I probably won't listen, I'm gonna go check Shayley's solo project instead, their demos are already better than anything Of Mice & Men has ever made.

Eh. He does have a pretty unique scream, whether you consider it good or not, and his singing in that one song was decent. Though i don't see how he'll be able to do it live since it seems like he runs out of stamina frequently.
