sup brett favre
i wonder what piece of furniture hetfield will proclaim himself to be on this one?
Awww! And here I was hoping for B-sides of Lulu
not looking forward to this
hang it up
I AM THE SOFA!!!!
fuck you Metallica, stop shitting on your fans, the ones who are left anyway
band hasn't been good since the late 80's
I'm happy about it. I will listen, and probably enjoy. Good day everybody!
I AM THE BIDET TO THE ASS OF FAME
Yeah...this "working on a new album" thing has been going on for months already. "next year" in Rob's quote = this year, but I guess it doesn't hurt to keep kids reminded.
I bet they'll make a bunch of money.
ugh this better be worthwhile
This has got to be a joke at this point.
@ sonicspeed - it won't be
idk Lulu wasn't a Metallica album at all really, it was Lou Reed who hired Metallica to be his backing band
and Death Magnetic was pretty great so there's definitely reason to believe this one could be good
Digging: Bolzer - Hero
still haven't heard Death Magnetic in full
"still haven't heard Death Magnetic in full"
you're not missing much
It's funny how Megadeth is releasing "meh" albums, but they are at least solid. And then you have Metallica who are living parodies of rock stars.
I don't think this will be Lulu pt 2 anymore than Death Magnetic was St. Anger pt 2
AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LULU IS NOT A METALLICA ALBUM
I'm sure they'll still screw up the production somehow though
Death Magnetic showed us why they stopped making thrash albums: they're out of ideas.
Digging: Keith Rowe and John Tilbury - Duos for Doris
it's safe to say that after sixteen years of mediocrity, Metallica's tenth record will continue this tradition.
God please go away this music is dead. Bands need to learn to quit while they are ahead.
lol ocean have you even listened to this band
that pic of them is the most METAL thing eva M/
Here and there. Not a fan, but I won't deny their influence.
yea megadeth are better glad we agree
death magnetic was bollocks, so forced. you can't force metuhl.
LULU WAS A LOU REED ALBUM. FUCK. I BET THIS IS SOLID. STOKED. STRAIGHT METALLICA.
I thought I read that they'd be writing shorter, Black Album-esque tracks for this one.
"death magnetic was bollocks, so forced. you can't force metuhl."
yea i heard they really wanted to make a jam rock record.
why do they take sooooo damn long to write new material?
this isn't going to be good
Just retire already.
No one even wants a new metallica record lol
Just retire already !
'LULU WAS A LOU REED ALBUM. FUCK. I BET THIS IS SOLID. STOKED. STRAIGHT METALLICA.'
I'm not even going to bother about this
All they have to do is claim a return to Puppets or RTL and millions of dipshits everywhere will buy in on release.
Anyone who buys new Metallica releases, deserves to be shit on from the mediocre band.
does anyone buy into these old asshats trying to recapture the glory of their youth?
it's an impossible mission minus that scientologist clown
Thought Death Magnetic was good.
Do believe this will be a solid album.
they did two shitty projects last year. Stop trying. You're done
Gonna give them one last change; they'll never reach the heights they used to, but that doesn't mean they won't release a stellar album. Actually, fuck that, lars is gonna screw it all up again
people who hate on metallica are really cool it seems.
Lars sure does like his money.
they take too long to write, the quality of the work i believe actually suffers because they overthink it. Still stoked though cuz im a fanboy
the hate is warranted
WOW!!! new AngelofDeath avatar!!
too bad he can't buy better feet Angel
load, garage inc, s and m, and death magnetic were all fantastic albums. get the fuck over the fact that they are not the same band from the 80s. its been 20 years since then. seriously. if you dont like the band anymore go complain somewhere else.
Death Magnetic is almost as bad as St. Anger, and Lulu is worse than both. Don't see why anyone would
give them the benefit of the doubt anymore.
who said anything about the 80's?? :/
NO. I will complain here. thanks
@jmh, yeah death magnetic so was sooo revolutionary and inspiring, holy shit
I hope it's good.
Maybe if I ask politely they'll collaborate with me this time! :D
Digging: Threshold - Extinct Instinct
Maybe they've figured out how to raise Burton from the dead. If that's the case, I'll listen to it.
oh god why are they doing this to us
what did we do to them
WAGGLE MY ASS LIKE A DARK PROSTITUTE COAGULATING BLOOD
You guys are saying that Lulu wasn't a Metallica album. I mean, technically yeah it's true that it isn't just their album, but they contributed to it pretty vastly and they're partially responsible for its oh-god-ness
At least they don't have much possibility of doing worse this time
it's like that guy that always tells the same stupid joke over and over and over again. it's not funny anymore
Unfortunately I've lost all hope on them.
Hope I'm wrong.
They should turn into a power metal band
"idk Lulu wasn't a Metallica album at all really, it was Lou Reed who hired Metallica to be his backing band
and Death Magnetic was pretty great so there's definitely reason to believe this one could be good"
just go the way of all once classic bands and release 20 b-side albums and 30 greatest hits
It's really sad to hear about Metallica breaking up.
I AM THE TABLE
Oh god why
All you haters better sleep with one eye open. And grip your pillow tight.
Maybe the shit that was Lulu will motivate them to make a non-shit album.
Ahaha, nah, I'm just funnin' you guys.
1. a bunch of people mentioned their early material
2. i didnt say it was revolutionary or inspiring. i think its a solid album.
3. if you dont like the band. why do you waste your time reading and posting on threads about them? oh yea. you have nothing else to do.
Death Magnetic wasn't incredible, but it had some good jams on it. my chief complaint was that songs seemed to drag on forever (The End of The Line) so if they tighten things up, who knows? could be good.
They'll have to dig themselves out of one BIG fucking hole after Lulu. :L
Lulu is my favorite album of all time followed by Lateralus.
And sell it will!
"I AM TEH CD!"
I'm looking forward to it. Death Magnetic was pretty damn good I thought, easily better than any album they had made in the previous 17 or so years beforehand.
People shouldn't blame Metallica for Lulu's atrocious lyrics though, Lou wrote all of that "I am the table!" nonsense. And I thought the actual music itself on Lulu wasn't even that bad, just ruined by Reed.
Anxiously awaiting Lulu Pt 2.
This will be an important recording for them. They release a solid album and they swept away the discrace called "Lulu". If their next album won't be good enough, things may not turn out well for them.
this will fucking suck
*reference to Lulu or whatever the fuck its called and Metaliica sucking now* LOL we're all so funny
metallica - whatever the fuck its called
10 albums for....how long have they been around?
Digging: Alustrium - A Tunnel to Eden
Officially retired this band out of my life. I actually just sold off their first 4 albums cause I could care less to listen to them again.
lol guys fuck you, metallica is the best metal band ever, they were making the best music in the universe before and now they have more money than all of you together and they still make decent music so you can say whatever you want but yeah they own you in every single way so hahaha fUCK YOU!!!!
they don't actually own me. no one does. and i could care less that they are super rich
Digging: Crowhurst - Crowhurst
why won't they stop
^ Oh, dear. Having money doesn't make a band good. Bad logic.
hahahahahaha FUCK YOUUUUUUUU
why won't they stop
lol I love that video, thanks andacas
yeah that video was fucking gold.
yeah, but seattle '89 battery is better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8TaCpbrgrg
anything from '89 Seattle and '92 San Diego is godly. Metallica was sooo good back then.
they were gods back then
they suck now, but I still love them
not their music, but them (no homo)
and I can't wait to hear the new album. it won't be better than a 3.5 probably but still... I can't wait to hear it
Lars: *turns off snare*
Beyond Magnetic was pretty decent, lets hope its more like that. I'm not expecting Ride The Lightning/Master of Puppets part two, but if they can do a Death Magnetic with shorter and more concise songs, as well as better production, i'm down.
SUICIDE! I'VE ALREADY DIED!
eh eh eh
"and we're going to be recording during the most of next year."
A competent band usually only needs about a month to write and record something far better than Metallica....
Hey man, it's hard to record in a month when you're a TABLE.
I AM THE BASS!
my first reaction was "oh god go away" or "whyyy" but this might actually be good, just because they haven't done anything good in so long that they're bound to get lucky eventually.
because they haven't done anything good in so long that they're bound to get lucky eventually.
If I keep throwing all the stuff out of my fridge against a wall eventually it will make a cake
I AM THE MONEY!
I AM THE MONEY!
and this is where we'll see if Lulu was Lou Reeds fault. Death Magnetic was good, so I'm still a little optimistic.
Lulu was just plain awful, but death magnetic honestly wasnt that bad i would say on par with the black ablum. As long as this album has more in common with DM than lulu i will be happy.
@ Andcas - That was supposed to be for Spiritcrusher. I think we must have posted at the same time.
Am I the only one on Sputnik excited for this? Okaaayy, no creaaam...
lol sorry guys, I was drunk last night
but I am excited for this release, yeah
Hopefully this album isnt to bad, but im sure it will be just another disappointment like Lulu and St Anger. Still looking forward to it nevertheless.
I feel like this will be another attempt by Metallica to "spread [their] wings"...
Hopefully better than Death Magnetic.
It's funny how all the "use to be" Metallica fans visit this thread so often. If you don't like Metallica's records anymore then just move on. I agree their not as good as their old shit, but at least they've tried different things. How many bands have put together 4-5 kick ass albums and influenced an entire generation of music at the same time? Not to mention making albums in which every track is sick as fuck! It's extremely rare for bands to do that once, let alone several times. These guys are old as dirt and still shred heavy shit. How many of us could play thrash metal for 30+ years, performing an endless amount of tours, and still come out with decent stuff? Thats what i thought. Most critics are losers that just like to hate on shit cuz their life blows. So fuck all you haters! Keep rockin Metallica! If you can't produce another Master of Puppets, so be it. I'm just thankful I have the option to rip that album whenever I please! m/
Kudos to the true Metallica fans btw!
Shleebz is the fucking man.
I love 80's Metallica. they should retire now.
I still love them. They need to really focus on the things that made them awesome though instead of trying to do a watered down version of what they THINK they should do though.
Remove the last "though"...
they should just retire and leave us with their 80s material
I have a bad feeling about this...
Will be good I liked DM, and they said they want to write a heavier black album. They said they want to write more concise shorter songs they gave an example of Fuel and a Harvester of Sorrow. If its like DM with shorter songs I'll be a very happy camper : )
