Song has its moments but ehhhh Idunno
yeah, a lot of people are hating on this, but i dig it. i never liked their old stuff, either.
there's a good whole 2 minutes without any chugging. they've progressed.
Would have liked it more if they went back into the riff after the clean section, THEN into the breakdown.
That was pretty good, can't wait to hear the rest. I think The Common Man's Collapse will still be my favorite though, but maybe that's just because I've heard that album like over 9000 times
They sound better than ever here, I'm looking forward to this release.
Obviously none of you above have listened to Common Man's or [id] much. It's a bunch of rehashed riffs just changed slightly, hoping no one will notice.
Band has been going downhill since [id].
best song they've done in years as far as i'm concerned
Pretty sweet song
Digging: Rancid - ...And Out Come the Wolves
Digging it, and finally they stopped going with Michael Keene for the production...
[id] was fucking terrible.
Yeah [id] was a major step down from The Common Man's Collapse
These lyrics are retarded
riff is killer
BUT will the new album come in 4 different colors?
band has always been boring to me, will check this out
Digging: Backtrack - Darker Half
based off of this it's safe to say it's going to be better than [Id]
one of the youtube comments:
"For all you emo pussies fucks..
I hope your queer-ass, v-neck, skinny jeaned, bitch singing, half-assed, mediocre, and over-used
breakdowns fucking die. Get fucking skill, no body likes a bitch trying to act tough.
Veil of Maya is song and I can't wait for the new album."
this song is good until the out of place breakdown
Not bad, not that good either.. Never heard a song by them and i'm not about to do so after hearing this..
Especially since everyone complains about the low amount of breakdowns (WTF??), which makes me think their older songs are filled with them.
Digging: Grouper - Ruins
Never liked this band at all cause the vocals always sucked immensely. This sounds pretty decent. I'll probably give the full album a listen.
Also, lol at that YouTube comment.
intro reminds me of boo
Not terrible, but far from impressive. Once it got to the "djent" part I lost all enthusiasm.
the best song they've ever recorded. I hope this is actually going to be good.
Digging: Devil Sold His Soul - Belong ? Betray
Holy fuck the vocals sound like AHP-era BOO. This is song is awesome! :D
Digging: The Birthday Massacre - Superstition
lyrics are crappy imo, the rest is decent but nothing spectacular
Band has always been pretty decent in my eyes, seems like this won't be too much different.
Digging: The Smith Street Band - Throw Me in the River
You moron. No shit. I said SINCE [id].
yeea that breakdown kinda didn't work. song was pretty good though.
Yeah, I realized that. Apologies.
those youtube comments are awful. liking the song!
Song is okay. Nothing special.
I read on the forums that the guitarist said that this was his least favorite track on the album. If it truely is the one of the weakest tracks holy shit..
Not bad, but the thin production kills it. Sounds a lot like BoO, as others have said.
Digging: Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - In Glorious Times
this is pretty damn solid. seemed a little choppy with the middle interlude part into the breakdown at the end though.
sounds like they couldn't come up with anything better or something like that
everything sounded good until that breakdown at the end. god i hate those
This is like the only song they ever wrote with one breakdown I believe.....
i feel like they did the breakdown at the end because they pretty much had to. every veil of maya song that's ever been written has been "chug chug chug" and while it's a huge step in the right direction at how lacking the chug part is in this song besides the end, they can't really just drop the whole sound that got them to where they are. either that or sumerian was like "what the fuck bro, no breakdown?"
either way, i think it's really solid and i'm looking forward to this album.
I like how they brought back the riffing, because [id] was basically like "hey look how many weird chords we can chug on!" This sounds a lot more like something from The Common Man's Collapse, and I love that album. Pretty excited for this new album now, I was almost sure that they were going to continue down the path of mediocrity.
id was boring so is this
Song fucking ruled. Best thing they've done yet. The breakdown wasn't bad so idk why people are bitching.
its okay, new I, The Breather is better
worst song ive ever heard
Digging: Throwing Muses - Throwing Muses
true that ^^^
"its okay, new I, The Breather is better"
lol are you fucking kidding me? No way in hell.
Mid part sounds like an enlightened porno. Weak compared to common mans collapse
^ Not wrong. This is a garbage song, one of the worst they've ever made.
they have yet to make a good song its crazy
How can you not like We Bow In It's Aura?
cos its lame and gay
Was it bland and uninspired? Cause thats what i look for in a band.
Digging: Midnight - No Mercy for Mayhem
The only song they ever made that was better than We Bow In its Aura was It's Not Safe to Swim Today.
Song had high points, but I wasn't impressed.
Digging: FKA Twigs - LP1
I guess since I'm a guitarist I can appreciate the riffage Marc Okubo can occasionally dish out.
do you have a band techiecore?
it's not safe to swim today isn't that hard to play. just fast tempo
"either that or sumerian was like "what the fuck bro, no breakdown?"
that's what it was i promise. sumerian is kind of notorious for that. my friend's band signed a contract to sumerian and they ended up having to get out of the contract to release the album they wanted to because ash told them it needed more breakdowns to be marketable.
where is your friends band now
"needed more breakdowns to be marketable"
more breakdowns, less progression? wtf i dont even
Sounds good to me
the song or more breakdowns and less progression?
The song was pretty cool and the more breakdowns, less progression.
*sigh* I'm giving up on you Eulogize.
