Feist/Mastodon Collaboration?
2011-11-29 by Loeffler Industries | 50 Replies | 3183 Views

Canadian indie singer Feist has expressed interest in recording a split-single EP sometime in 2012 with metal group Mastodon. The idea is that each would cover a song from the other. Feist has hinted that it might be a song off Mastodon's recent album "The Hunter" or the song "Oblivion".

Yeah, so there's pretty much no way this wouldn't rule, right?

In Mastodon we trust...that's all I thought when I read and posted this. Mastodon won't let it be bad.

Oh, they're just covering each others' old songs? That's disappointing. I guess not all artists have the same creative energy flowing through them as Metallica and Lou Reed do.

@Scoot It's like Lulu except neither is decades past their prime and bat shit crazy, so it probably
won't suck. We already saw Mastodon's nadir in the Jonah Hex EP, which wasn't terrible despite being
their first soundtrack, scrapped and re-recorded in its entirety, and done for free.

I'm interested in this more from morbid curiosity than anything though.

Actually pretty interested in hearing this. I'm sure Feist will pick one of the three mellow songs off The Hunter to cover. But it's certainly not a bad thing, since those are the highlight of the album anyway.

This will be good. Mastodon wouldn't risk putting a bad release out after The Hunter.

...Right..?

every bizarre collab should not elicit comparisons to lulu... that was two particularly dreadful musical acts making particularly dreadful music... it deserves special treatment.

Oh it's just covers. Somewhat disappointing.

And wasn't Lulu made primarily for the lulz? Which makes me much more forgiving of it even if Metallica has been sucking quite a lot
for the past decade.
