I'm surprised word hasn't arrived here till now, these have been up for pre-order since October 21st. Anyway, I just ordered one of these and they have about 40 sets left.

it's four lps and a 7" in a box with some other stuff, so the price isn't really that bad. they started at 500 and recently reduced it to 300. i think both labels have around forty each left. buy or cry

For what you're getting it is pretty reasonable: 2 double LP's with exclusive artwork, poster signed by God himself, motw patch and picks, some 'secret song shit', all the song download codes for the pc listeners amongst us, and a ultra rare t shirt. All in a limited edition of 300 handcrafted by a small group of dedicated artisans. Meaning you can walk like king amongst those few people who know/care why any of the above are so crucial to your life.

But yeah, a Kayo Dot version of this would be sicklier

They really couldn't just get some $10-15 CDs churned out? Those are what a lot of people would buy I would think, me included. Definitely passing on this.

I reckon it's not worth their while to mass produce a load of CD's that are for an extremely niche market.

While one can still question the economic viability of an expensive run of limited luxury goods, one surely can't question the fact that it is a god idea

From what I understand, the label putting this set out is a non-profit, so they've said they'll only produce the whole amount once the pre-orders are filled because they need that money to make them in the first place.

MisterSteel: I'm sure there'll be a little amount of profit in it, but it's true that they're doing the preorder to raise the funds to actually be able to make the box set. Once the preorders are filled, they'll go to press.

There will, however, be a limited pressing of Bath and LYBM gatefolds after the box set has come and gone, for those who might have had to miss it. No goodies will be coming with those, though.

Hey there, we are the Finnish part of this package, and we are the non-profit ones.

Antithetic Records is a label based out of the USA, and they are selling to USA and Canada.

We, Blood Music, are selling to the rest of the world, and our mission is in the nature of cultural preservation. The box sets themselves are basically sold exactly at cost. Our profits that come from the very limited barebones releases (which will not be available until much later) will go into a grant foundation which will then be grown and paid out towards the creation of documentaries and other support efforts for the research, publication, and promotion of works on the subject of metal, such as museums/books/other important rare releases/etc. This is our first action, and we have a few documentaries in pre-production already.

Thanks all for the orders already! We are nearly sold out.

Lunarfall, CD's are dying and their value as collectables fall way short of vinyl records. The reason why vinyl has been making a comeback is because its an analog form of music, if you want to listen to a high quality digital version of something you no longer need to buy the CD you can just download a flac somewhere. Honestly, I was collecting CD's a while before I started up on vinyl records and now I look at my CD collection and thing "Well, this was pointless, these are just discs filled with computer data." I only buy CD's if a band never released their back catalog on vinyl, because I still want to support them. Plus, holding the record in your hands just feels special to me.

Plus anyways, you were wrong :P. This boxset hasn't been out for very long and its already almost sold out with the very little amount of word that has gotten around.

Post #17: "They're almost sold out!"

Post #36: "Why aren't these guys selling CD's and not vinyl, that's what people would buy!!"

We do not own the rights to these albums, and we do not own the right to license them on CD. Also, let's face it... CD is becoming rather quickly obsolete. Vinyl is far more archival, sounds better, and looks cooler.

There are no plans to release them on CD from the rights holder ever again. We are releasing them in agreement with the band and the rights holder for what everyone wants to see. We are making them available in a very limited format that we enjoy because we think others will and because they've been out of print for years.

--

Also, to anyone who is mad about the cost, we've covered this time and again. We dare you in any of your wildest dreams to price out a box set this deluxe and this archival at this price that also gives most of the profits from sales to the ACTUAL band.

Any comparison to any vinyl release that spawns 3000-5000 copies from a major label and charges nearly the same price as us, then you are dreaming!

If you are interested, then there is no point complaining because this won't be available again and is almost sold out. There is also no point in complaining about the price because we are not making money on the box sets.

We're poor too, so we can understand. But materials are luxuries of course. And at the very least, it got you to look the guys up on YouTube or download some mp3s and enjoy them anyway. So it makes us happy either way.
