Dismember Split After 23 Years
2011-10-17 by CakeWithCream | 39 Comments
After 23 years of constant touring and album releases, Swedish death metal veterans Dismember have decided to split up. Bassist Tobias Cristiansson issues the following statement "After 23 years, Dismember have now decided to quit. We wish to thank all our fans for your support."

Dismember was founded by some ex-members of Carnage in 1988 and released their debut "Like An Ever Flowing Stream" in 1991. That album was praised by critics and is still heralded today as a milestone for the Swedish death metal scene. Dismember would then go on to release 7 more albums, including their most recent self-titled album released in 2008.

It took a long time for this to get approved for some reason.

Sucks, although they had a good run. Glad they could retire with pride.

Great band.

But nice to see them go out on a relatively high note. It seems like every 90's death metal band is releasing an album these days that is just terrible.

Long run, sad to see them go for fans who listen to them. I'll be honest and say I never listened to anything they done but I might have to check some of it out.

I guess this means I should listen to Every Flowing Stream now. Classy way to end a great career.

Good band. Their 2008 full length was the second death metal album I checked out and liked. Glad they went out on a high note, the 2006 release is pretty darn godly.

Grave, pick up the slack please, you've got even more expectations placed on you now.
