| |
This whole EP rocks. I like it better than their last LP.
| |
man what happened to the 1991 demo cynic
| |
they're dead
| |
Pretty fantastic. Will be getting this EP
| |
More atmospheric. I like it.
| |
The vocals pretty much destroyed any lasting impact Traced in Air could have achieved, so yeah, I'm pretty hungry for sum'er Cynic.
| |
this is win, as expected. hopefully there's some upbeat stuff too.
| |
Sweet Jesus this is good
| |
this is fucking great
| |
Better than expected. Sounds less forced than every song BTBAM have recorded in the past five years.
| |
unnecessary comparison. Cynic are so far beyond BTBAM's level.
| |
"first"
No, Borgir already had a list on this before it was news.
but needs more dm [2]
| |
Good song, EP should rock.
| |
Whoooooa where'd this come from? Whatever, good stuff.
| |
Not a big cynic fan, but this was pretty cool. Will definitely check out the EP.
| |
cool but needs more dm

The beginning is very much like Aeon Spoke
| |
If only listening to Cynic didn't bring back such bad memories, because they're freaking awesome. and oh yea, screw death metal.

| |
so is this better than traced in air or what does this shit bring back the osdm
| |
traced is better
focus is better
| |
No death metal, no computer vocals.
| |
hmmm interesting
| |
It's like their last LP with more energy, but with clean vocals similar to their Portal project.
| |
It was fine, but that's all about it.
| |
Track is really, really good.
| |
Who wants me to review this? ;D
| |
yay
i really can't wait for the whole EP to show up.
| |
very nice
| |
drums are fucking awesome and the vocals are much better than on traced, can't wait for the whole thing
| |
I wish I was not in class.

Song rules.

Just listened to Traced in Air and I like this a lot more.
| |
Wow, didn't realize 'Traced In Air' was so disliked. I loved that album. I really like this song, too.
| |
Pretty nice.
| |
ugh, come on. where are the riffs? there's basically no guitar playing. imagine this in a live setting, they're going to be standing there waving their dicks while 50 ambient tracks play in the background.
| |
--imagine this in a live setting, they're going to be standing there waving their dicks while 50 ambient tracks play in the background. --
New age porn? Cynic always were ground breakers.
| |
best part of cynic was always the drumming because reinert is a monster
| |
Traced in Air > Focus
| |
^ nope.
The song was good but I'm hoping there's some kick ass riffing to be found somewhere on this ep.
| |
Cynic doesn't do kick-ass riffs anymore, dog. They're all melodic n shit.
| |
The player fails so much. What a piece of shit music player.
| |
I had a really terrible joke planned to unleash in this thread but I went to log in and forgot it.
Song rules.
| |
Definitely liking this song.
| |
Really good upon subsequent listens. Looking forward to this actually.
| |
music starts: yea!
singing starts: bleh.
| |
good but needs moar dm [6]
| |
Pretty dope, yo
| |
sounds pretty good. can't wait for more.

| |
Sounds pretty good, I must say. Digging the ambiance. And hey, free music.
| |
Did we all listen to the same song? It was fresh and all but I felt like it was building up to some intense riffing, and then just sorta ended. Was a little boring as a result. Hope it makes more sense in the context of the album.
| |
Fucking ruled.
| |
Awesome song.
Still needs more dm. I swear I was waiting for the entire song for them to start riffing.
| |
track's great
| |
uranium based anatomy boom
| |
Why an EP . It has been liek 4 years since the last full lenght !
| |
Why is everybody going on about how bad Traced in Air was? I thought it was much better than Focus...i've never been able to sit through that entire album
| |
cos you cant dm
| |
can't get into this band
| |
crysis bro what you think of this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnAHSZX_N1c
| |
I'll listen when I have a chance (working atm) but I bet it's p. good because it's from '91 and they probably knew how to dm then
| |
can't get into this band
Not even Focus?
| |
Nope, have given it more than its fair share of listens and just can't do it.
| |
they dm on focus bro just with more jazz and robot trust me give it time and its the best album ever
| |
it's the jazz and robot that makes me cringe but i'll give it another couple listens
| |
For me the jazz is the best part. Though I agree about the robot vox, especially on Traced :S.
| |
The robo-vocals were way over the top on Focus. The didn't even carry a melody most of the time. Traced In Air did a fantastic job making something useful out of the robo-vocal thing, but it's harsh vocals were pretty awful. Overall I see the vocals improving substantially in Cynic as a function of time (starting at Focus). Does anyone know why Masvidal doesn't do the harsh vocals, btw? I thought he sounded good on the '91 demo.
| |
Oh shi, that was Masdival?
| |
Definitely the best vocals I have heard from these guys, didn't like traced in air at all really.
| |
crysis check out the 91 demo theres no robot and less jazz more straight up riffin
| |
Why an EP . It has been liek 4 years since the last full lenght !
Be happy with what you get. There were FIFTEEN years between releases after 'Focus'.
| |
^ for real
| |
I agree, more death metal.
Ambient is nice, but it needs to mesh with my sick nasty riffs.
| |
Really digging the new melodic/ambient thing, but I have to say as a guitar player I miss all the crazy technical riffing. Either way, the EP will be good, I can't picture them ever doing anything bad.
| |
Definitely the best vocals I have heard from these guys, didn't like traced in air at all really.[2]
And that's not saying much because I absolutely hate the vocals on Traced In Air. This is a small step in a better direction.
| |
Why the hate on robot vox. Makes the band unique
| |
yea
and this song is really fuckin good
| |
dang i hated traced in air but that was pretty good
| |
have you heard focus cos its 10x better
| |
na never listened to focus
| |
do it now bitch
| |
focus is better
| |
but im watchin its always sunny in philly =(
| |
ire have you seen the light or are you breaking my balls
| |
... focus is actually better whoa
| |
Traced in Air is better than Focus. Production on Focus hasn't aged well at all, especially the Robot vocals.
| |
Focus is better.
| |
I've only heard Focus.
| |
Focus is better.
| |
Robot vox = unnecessary and gay. If it's one or two tracks on an album, okay, I'll suffer through it.
If it's the whole goddamned album, kill it with fire.
| |
nah you suck dick robot rules
| |
cynic robotted hard way before t pain and all those other fags started doing it
| |
And in doing so ruined a pretty good prog metal album
| |
I'm going to go out on a limb here, but the only song on Focus I like is "How Could I" Traced in Air is WAY better.
| |
ur gay
| |
@Zion
Your avatar rules.
| |
song's awesome, but the production is funny, cant figure out why, i think the snare is clipping the mix or something?
