The robo-vocals were way over the top on Focus. The didn't even carry a melody most of the time. Traced In Air did a fantastic job making something useful out of the robo-vocal thing, but it's harsh vocals were pretty awful. Overall I see the vocals improving substantially in Cynic as a function of time (starting at Focus). Does anyone know why Masvidal doesn't do the harsh vocals, btw? I thought he sounded good on the '91 demo.

Really digging the new melodic/ambient thing, but I have to say as a guitar player I miss all the crazy technical riffing. Either way, the EP will be good, I can't picture them ever doing anything bad.
