PIAS UK warehouse destroyed2011-08-09 by Dr Dave De Sylvia STAFF | 39 Comments
|The 20,000 square metre SonyDADC warehouse, home to music and video distributor PIAS Distribution, was burned down last night during the latest round of riots in London.|
The warehouse - which houses the majority physical releases from over 150 independent labels including Domino, 4AD and Warp - was badly damaged, although the full extent of the damage has not been revealed.
PIAS released a short statement on the matter: "There was a fire last night at the SonyDADC warehouse which services the physical distribution for PIAS in the UK and Ireland. PIAS is working closely with SonyDADC who are implementing their emergency plans. PIAS’s UK offices in London and all other areas of our business are unaffected."
A number of small independent labels are threatened with extinction.

holy shit that's terrible
awful awful news
Damn... well... this sucks, I just hope these riots don't continue for much longer.
These guys are working hard to get music out there, just to get burned down by ignorant bastards who have no idea what they are rioting about or even why they are rioting
riots need to stop before they wreck everything and spread to even more places.
Can't even believe what's happening here in the UK. People are copying this in other cities now too, I just hope that it's stamped out before it gets worse.
Also, this news is really sad
A guy stole tesco value basmati rice... not even the good shit...

fucking shitty, a lot of familiar names in there too
So many great labels in there
I suppose if there's ANY positive to this... Victory was on that list...
burm em all dwn inat cushdy
shit just got personal
what a bunch of cunts
all the people I know from my socialist/communist group are defending the rioters but sometimes they need to fucking clean their brains out
i'm a communist but this is stupid
also, thank god it burned down victory, sad for the rest of the labels
Is there a place on facebook where everyone is flocking to combat this shit?
how is this being reported in countries like the US?
a brief mention here and there, I'm getting more information about it on here
pretty disgusted by it
yup, fucking scum
It'd be ok if it was just Victory, but shit.
"The record label run by the ironically-named BBC Radio 1 DJ Rob Da Bank loses all its records the fire at the Sony warehouse." Sorry but this made me lol a little.
this fucking sucks . Bunch of wankers.
This is pretty bad news, not only just for the warehouse, but for the targeted private houses as well...
Those riots are really moronic, they don't have a reason anymore either; it's just "Hey let's all be morons and break stuff!"
At first I was hoping some grassroots political movements could reign in the riots to turn them into something a bit more progressive and focused, but now it's clear that this shit is just for giggles. The unemployed are biting the hand that feeds them, and it looks like taxpaying Londoners are going to be footing the bill once more.
Sadly, there's no coverage of this in the US, really. We're too upset about being downgraded by the S&P to give a rat's ass.
"We're too upset about being downgraded by the S&P to give a rat's ass."
lol it was funny to hear about the US government's massive tantrum over that
My disgust and anger at these prats just became even greater.
balls. fuck rodney king

People have been killed now
hopefully the worst is over now though, but it's awful people have lost their lives being caught up in this.
Can I ask what's the deal with being ok with the Victory stuff? i don't get it...
damn that's INSANE
Here's a solution. Bring in military and let them do what they do best.
