Heap's Music-Making Gloves 2011-07-13 by RQL3 | 10 Comments
A new pair of sensor gloves have been made specially for artist Imogen Heap. They allow you to create music using just your hands. With the gloves you can create sounds, loops, and adjust volume, along with a large array of other actions. They were inspired by MIT prototypes, and Heap collaborated with a University to create them. She will be using them for future performances, and whether or not they will be made available to other artists and/or be marketed is unclear.
"Instead of strumming a guitar or banging the drums, she created loops by simply opening her hand, or shifted volume by opening or closing her arms."
That's totally gotta be a Theremin, I know it. Even if it's not strictly a Theremin, it's at least similar in concept... It sounds so much like a Theremin type of instrument, though. I don't know though, I'm not an expert. Seriously though, that's so cool.
