It's streaming on NPR now.

And...up to track 6 so far and very hit and miss. Uberlin and It Happened Today (which might be the happiest song they've ever written) are great, rest are eh.

I am not impressed so far. The lyrics for the most part seem like direct references to Accelerate, which in comparison to their 90's output isn't exactly poetry, and there's a dearth of any good hooks five songs in.

I mean, it's R.E.M. playing it very safe. Some people dig that.

Album is best work in years, no doubt.

I know, Automatic for the People was so horrible.

Will listen when this comes out, not that excited.

That is quite an ugly album cover. I actually enjoyed Accelerate, maybe I'll like this.

Laugh all you want, Green sucked, Out of Time sucked even worse, Automatic for the People was boring as fuck, and the Hi-Fi one was trying way too damn hard. Accelerate was alright. R.E.M. was a jangly indie rock band who became alt-pop for the sake of fame, which was ironic because Stipe used to say R.E.M. would never sell out.

Green and Out of Time are slightly overrated but Automatic is a classic.

How can one person be so many kinds of wrong? Spouting opinion as fact doesn't make it fact it just makes you wrong. :^/

Wasn't very impressed by this unfortunately. I'd hoped that Accelerate was the beginning of some kind of mini-comeback but this one certainly won't be remembered for long.
