Been looking forward to this even though my expectations aren't especially high. I'll listen tomorrow.

yes!
|
| |
am I understanding correctly that there is no stream today?
|
| |
the stream is down until tomorrow
pleasebegoodpleasebegoodpleasebegoodpleasebegoodpleasebegood
(fucking awful album cover)
|
| |
sweet, should be at least solid
|
| |
It's streaming on NPR now.
And...up to track 6 so far and very hit and miss. Uberlin and It Happened Today (which might be the happiest song they've ever written) are great, rest are eh.

| |
listening ahora

I am not impressed so far. The lyrics for the most part seem like direct references to Accelerate, which in comparison to their 90's output isn't exactly poetry, and there's a dearth of any good hooks five songs in.
I mean, it's R.E.M. playing it very safe. Some people dig that.
|
| |
Album is best work in years, no doubt.
|
| |
Accelerate was good, but R.E.M. has sucked since Document

I know, Automatic for the People was so horrible.
Will listen when this comes out, not that excited.
|
| |
it really was
|
| |
That is quite an ugly album cover. I actually enjoyed Accelerate, maybe I'll like this.
|
| |
Accelerate was good, but R.E.M. has sucked since Document
fucking LOL
|
| |
^this
Also this was pretty good.
|
| |
Laugh all you want, Green sucked, Out of Time sucked even worse, Automatic for the People was boring as fuck, and the Hi-Fi one was trying way too damn hard. Accelerate was alright. R.E.M. was a jangly indie rock band who became alt-pop for the sake of fame, which was ironic because Stipe used to say R.E.M. would never sell out.
|
| |
Green and Out of Time are slightly overrated but Automatic is a classic.
|
| |
no
i'll go to bat with anyone over this argument
|
| |
At least its better than The Resistance...
|
| |
nah
|
| |
Dude, Automatic is amazing fuck off.
|
| |
Dude, Automatic is amazing fuck off. [2]
Stop saying otherwise or I will put you in the ground.
|
| |
alright so some kid on the internet doesn't like a record and made a generic comment about a band
selling out
its so easy to piss you guys off
the new album is alright, i like roughly half the songs so far but some parts are really bland
|
| |
You sound pretty pissed off there, champ.
|
| |
Nah, thats just porch. That's his normal demeanor.
Edit: Otherwise baller wut now?
|
| |
blaizend is used to analyzing defeater's lyrics in great depth so he thinks he has me all figured out
|

How can one person be so many kinds of wrong? Spouting opinion as fact doesn't make it fact it just makes you wrong. :^/
|
| |
I haven't analysed any Defeater lyrics. Next.
|
| |
Oh but you will
|
| |
no automatic sucks
put me in the ground plz
|
| |
Wasn't very impressed by this unfortunately. I'd hoped that Accelerate was the beginning of some kind of mini-comeback but this one certainly won't be remembered for long.
|
| |
I really enjoyed this.
|
| |
Really enjoyed it at first, but really doesn't have much replay value
|
| |
really hesitant to give this a list, I haven't really listened to any of their new/bad stuff.
|
| |
@mallen- I thought the same. Good but didn't grab me enough to come back to it
@rabbit- I'd deff get accelerate
|
| |
It happened today is leagues above the rest of the album
