Emery's new song may be Post-Hardcore's finest ever!
Seriously, the best parts of In Shallow Seas were the clean vocal parts, so hopefully this isn't too br00tal.
Kicks ass. The screamer really stepped it up there.
holy balls this beginning is heavier than i ever expected. amazing song nonetheless.
ahh man. this is heavy. but that last breakdown is pretty bad not gunna lie. but i do like the song overall
i didn't really have a problem with the last one; it was different but i feel that it fit the song pretty well. but then again, i'm a sucker for breakdowns.
brought deh junz
you gotta admit that's probably the simplest 4/4 breakdown you've ever heard..
agreed, but it's emery, so anything they do is pure gold. i'm only a man excluded.
whoa wait this is emery? ...o.O
the screamer's got some impressive belting there.
love the heavier approach
i paused Jawbox to listen to this. horrible decision
REPETITION!!!!! that part is actually sick. it doesn't even sound like emery
Solid track, will definitely be checking out this album.
This is promising. The screaming has gotten so so so so much better. Hopefully the album will be containing less JUNcore, though
good song, impressive screams
does anyone else cringe at the album title?
looking forward to the album 10x more now
No, because I DO WHAT I WANT!
Song kicks, very glad to hear it.
Digging: Thank You Scientist - Maps of Non-Existent Places
The only part I really liked about that was the intro.
I'm not sure if I like the direction they're heading, the cleans were what made ...In Shallow Seas so great.
Love the song. The part were Toby comes in is really good. I hope they don't go overboard with the JUNZ on this album.
@SHAKEandBAKE are we the only people on this website who think that?
I agree, I hope this was one of the few "heavier" songs on the album.
I wouldn't mind if it was heavier, just not too many 4/4 BREKDUNZ please. Although I like this one.
"brought deh junz"
Didn't like it.
brought deh junz .
i liked it but miss the more epic melodic stuff between the two vocalists. i love when they have heavier parts like they did on in shallow seas but they work so well because they're balanced out with the other stuff.
Digging: Weekend Nachos - Still
yah that was pretty generic junz at times. the electro sections were pretty stupid too. skeptical about new album.....
wow, that was unexpectedly heavy.
Digging: Magnolia Electric Co - Trials and Errors
Digging: Mary J Blige - The Breakthrough
yea...those breakdowns are a tad bit too generic.
I guess their doing what they want.....
Finest. Post-Hardcore. Ever.
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG
Will be back after I actually listen.
Wait a second, I liked the song.
albums gonna r00l
WE DO WHAT WE WANT
holy fuck that was awesome. love me some emery.
so wait, their singer/bass player wasn't on this track was he?
Digging: Tullycraft - Lost in Light Rotation
Ok, I'm back and
OMG OMG OMG OMG
Song was good but people are exaggerating its heaviness.
they've gone from a bitchy post-hardcore band to an angsty post-hardcore band
i can't decide which is worse
I liked the part where it went Jun Jun Jun. Great song though.
Song was good but people are exaggerating its goodness.
Fix'd it for you, buddy.
oh u so funny meester
my thought process upon logging in to sputnik tonight: "oh man, Aiden news item AND Emery news item. Which to post on first?"
I enjoyed this but still... what is soooooo much better about this than other post-hardcore? just don't get the love for this band.
The screaming was really good here but besides that it was kinda gay.
Digging: Jamie Lenman - Muscle Memory
emery is always kind of gay, but still amazing.
That's very true actually but besides "Curbside Goodbye" I would not call anything they've done amazing.
the singing is definitely missing something, it has lost all its power. this will not top the question or in shallow seas.
the singing was awesome with the instruments behind it. Breakdowns did suck though. Good song, just not as good as anything off the previous album
these dudes are so bad
so badly good
Maybe I need to listen again.
THEY WENT HARD!
song was ossum. Brutal skramz.
Yawn yawn sneeze cough fart. I thought this genre died already! : (
I loved it.
It's good and i don't hate it, but i don't think its Emery's finest work ever. I do love the heavier approach but not at the loss of musicianship. I'm looking forward to this album none-the-less.
I kinda liked their last album, but you guys are beyond overhyping this
Maniac, It's sputnik.
ofcourse we're over hyping it.
that intro was bat-shit heavy for Emery standards
so much better than their last album already
good song, screaming improved but the clean parts just don't sound right. Liked them a lot more on shallow seas and all their past albums (excluding i'm only a man) hopefully they sound more for lack of a better word emerylike on the other tracks although it will be hard to duplicate without devin
It's a different direction and good, but the best part of Emery was the dual melodic vocal trade-offs. Hopefully we'll get a single with more clean vocals next.
lol, wtf are they doing here?
Digging: Weekend Nachos - Still
I hate, I hate, I hate this. Sums up this song.
This direction, DO NOT WANT.
You might not want it, but, it is a stated fact that they, indeed, do what they want.
Why couldn't another band make this song?
Its good but its not emery
song reminds me a tad of i'm only a man emery, surprised people are liking it. chorus rules.
did not mind this
woah, breakdown in the end almost ruined it
The junz will be too much for Davey's poor little head!
Teh junz is t00 much for g00d mvsik tastes. o
oh man generic breakdowns + emery this has gotta be good! can't wait to hear it!
dibs on reviewing this btw omg lol
Digging: Mansions - Doom Loop
cant wait! ur last emery review was so insightful
i dont like heavier emery
the sound feels sort of..idk empty or something
Junzeric. Soo.. junzy. Like.. junz. You junzerstand?
this is special, but good!this is fucking emery, man!
Digging: Junior Battles - Junior Battles
Wow, this is an incredible step. I was worried emery would revert back to the Only a Man days. Apparently I was wrong. This has been a great year for post-hardcore so far.
Im sick of people hating on im only a man, cd had a bunch of gems.
It took a while for me to like it, but yeah that album is really good.
ohshit. its good
I thought their last album was overhyped, but I absolutely adored this.
Digging: City Of Ifa - Self Titled
I'm not sure about this one.
Not as good as ...ISSWS
But the guitar lead still impressive, and the vocals are amazing as always, albeit the cleans took a backseat in this song, but Emery always mixes it up in terms of pacing. I did like the contrast, I'm optimistic.
Digging: Typhoon - White Lighter
it was okay, but fail compared to ...ISSWS
Maybe the singer left because he realized that this band has hit a creative wall. Breakdowns aren't exactly the way to freshen your sound.
This band is not good to me at all. Never could get into them really even though they brought some junz and the screamer is much better this time around.
In shallow Sea we trust
Digging: Logos - Cold Mission
You said this was over
when you suffocate the truth and trade...
Bite your tongue! who taught u those words? Blaspheme!
When you are under my roof, don't ever say rock n' roll...
you're really weird dad
im just stressed out because the doctor just told me i recently contracted an amia venereal landscape
Emery goes generic.
nooot diggin' it.
^of course you're not
It's emery so instant 5.
ZOMG IT LEAKED
It's good, but it's their worst album : (
Zest On My Genitals
It's good, but it's their worst album : (
More or less what I would expect.
