The song itself is incredible but it loses so much power on record, it's the most live song I've ever experienced. I'm slightly let-down by the mixing and production, but I realise it's an almost-impossible task to capture the live atmosphere on disc.
I agree with Knott. Live it was powerful, but that's because even though nobody really knew it he had the entire crowd singing it by teaching them the main chant/hook before playing it. And honestly you can say the same for most of his songs. They're better if you've got a beer in one hand and you're shouting along.
Plus, when I saw him do this he found out it was this girl in the audience's birthday and made her do the harmonica solo.
Awesome song, really looking forward to the EP. I need to see him live.
what was the name of the song that he played about his bob dylan car ride dream?
"Awesome song, really looking forward to the EP. I need to see him live."
^ going to see him this weekend at the fest 9 in gainesville :D
Digging: From First to Last - Dead Trees
Still, I'm glad to have a recorded version finally. I just wish it was a bit more raw.
i think it sounds great. i just wish the gang vocals were louder
Never heard this song live when I saw him (all being the fact that it was a support slot for Green Day) but this does sound awesome.
Haven't been this stoked for a new release in a while. Will be pretty damn happy if the whole EP is this good.
Even when the studio version is released, I'll probably just end up listening to a live version of the song. Music video is pretty good.
"first time hearing this guy. he's pretty awesome."
If you like this, get Love, Ire & Song, it's one of the easiest 5's I've ever given.
agree with Knott too 'cause of this
♥ Can't fucking wait for his new shit.....
this is an incredible fucking song, better than anything off poetry of the deed
i cannot wait to scream along to it inside my car
it's so fucking good live
Love it. My copy of Love, Ire & Song is signed by him =]
