"post-hardcore? ok" Well they're emo which is sort of a sub-genre of post-hardcore but yah the genre doesn't sound right when talking about this album

emo isn't a subgenre of post-hardcore, it's a subgenre of hardcore. nonetheless, I still get annoyed when these guys are called post-hardcore, which has been happening a lot since they did the split with Thursday.

Ok fine. Post-hardcore and emo are both subgenres of hardcore which is kind of a subgenre of punk.

Now that that's all sorted let's listen to the album and rate it, like,.....4/5

Why is everyone so preoccupied with subgenres?

because the average internet user is helpless without something to bitch about, regardless of the topic.

Not really an 'emo' or 'screamo' fan (and honestly, the tag confuses me because most of the time I'd just label them other things). Also...screamo? Screamo is what people who hate harsh vocals call ALL hardcore. Never realised it was an actual genre.

the majority of the albums are almost like post-rock style anyways

so most of it is just the music

:'c I always thought you were one of the more knowledgable users in the extended hardcore family. I'm not trying to
sound dickish or anything, I just didn't know you didn't know.

Edit: but bailar is right, especially with bands like Envy.

I think I did know, but since I never delved into it, the automatic association of the word is when I hear it "oh, that person is bagging on hardcore"

So educate me, what bands count as screamo? (And what the hell is the difference between emo and screamo?)...Circle Takes the Square is emo right?

Album is subpar for Envy and doesn't keep me very interested. The post-rock crescendos are not as classy and epic as on releases like A Dead Sinking Story.
