U2 to tour Australia 2010-08-21 by Davey Boy STAFF | 36 Replies | 1563 Views |
Dates have finally been announced for U2's much-anticipated tour of Australia. Dubbed the 360 tour, the show will feature 600 tonnes of sound and light equipment and the expanding screen of 'The Claw'. In Melbourne, The Claw will jut out of Docklands Stadium and be clearly visible from the city. Permits are being sought to leave the roof open on show night for The Claw.
U2’s manager Paul McGuinness says that “U2 has always been at their best when surrounded by their audience, and this extraordinary production makes that happen in stadiums… It was important to the band that we were able to bring the whole 360° production to Australia and New Zealand so fans could experience the latest of U2’s legendary productions.”
Guitarist The Edge said at the launch: "Where we're taking our production will never have been seen before by anybody and that's an amazing thing to be able to say. For a band like U2, which really thrives on breaking new ground, it's a real thrill."
Dates are as follows:
Wednesday 1st December – Etihad Stadium, Melbourne
Wednesday 8th December – Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Monday 13th December – ANZ Stadium, Sydney
Saturday 18th December – Subiaco Oval, Perth
Tickets on sale Friday 3rd September

Oh & unlike many other acts touring in December, the prices for this seem reasonable. There will be cheap $40 seats & decent ones should be got for $100.
Anyone that has yet to have a look for the Bon Jovi prices, be seated when reading them!

As much as I despise Bono and co. the affordability of the show is a big surprise.
Checked the pricing for Bon Jovi just out of interest, yep he deserves a huge punch to the throat for that.

Dougie, the cheapest Bon Jovi tix to their Rod Laver gig was something like $140... & they were up top behind the band.

It will be interesting to see who supports them. From memory, it was Muse in the U.S. And Metallica have recently announced fairly well-known support acts for the trip down under.
