this is a good idea lots of people want to get into elliott smith but if theres one discography people constantly bicker about on which is the best, it's this. so they get this and go from there

That compilation is so good its ridiculous.

There's defiantly some classics here, and it is a good place for new listeners to start, but it seems like such a money-milking album. I don't like when continuous albums are released after the death of the artists.

God, I also thought this was another New Moon type deal. My heart rate honestly skyrocketed when I saw the headline. I think I'll go ahead and rip on this line-up of songs. I'd NEVER rip on anything e.smith has done, as he is easily tied as my favorite artist/band, BUT: this doesn't really delve into the world of Elliott Smith as much as it could. But I definitely see the reasoning for picking such a line-up.

They're never going to get a compilation down perfect, but as its an introduction and not necessarily a greatest hits, I'll overlook some omissions *cough*the white lady loves you more*cough*

A compilation is a good idea but it should be 2-disk because it's missing a lot of incredible songs. It only has one song from XO. WTF! It has one song from Figure 8 too. One really good choice they made was the Miss Misery (Early version) because it's much better than the final version. Anyways I'm happy that he has anything coming out. Maybe many more people can discover how incredible he really is.
