Okayplayer launches Okayafrica

2010-07-11 by Nick Butler EMERITUS | 3 Comments
Okayplayer, the hip-hop and neo-soul website founded by ?uestlove of The Roots and closely associated with the Soulquarians collective, have today launched a new website devoted to music in Africa, imaginatively titled Okayafrica. The website is, in its own words, 'okayplayer’s new cultural guide to all that’s hot and jumping in the new African renaissance.'

The launch content includes some World Cup related articles (including some vuvuzelas), an article on reality TV shows in Mauritius, editorial content from Falling Whistles, several music videos, and plenty of adverts for the Fela Kuti musical. There will also be a gig to celebrate the launch, featuring The Roots, Talib Kweli, Blitz the Ambassador, Dragonz of Zynth, and more.
