I'm at work and can't check it out. Is it any good?
| |
Not overly impressed but it's heavier than their last single. Chorus is pretty catchy.
| |
Exactly what Balls said.
| |
sounds better than anything on their last album
| |
Will check it out as soon as I can.
| |
pretty great song, better than anything except the title track of the last album, and quite a bit of STD
| |
I'm digging it. Solos were sweet. And Dirk needs to lay off the crack. He looks like he's about 50.
| |
yeah that surprisingly wasn't bad. i still won't be expecting much from the album.
| |
what a bunch of damn pussies you all are. I am so sick and tired of looking at the posts on here for every new song that comes out from a metal band. All you do is bitch and complain. Like any of you could do any better than any of these bands. This song is pretty damn good too. No matter what comes out, you will all cry like little babies and post bitching comments. Stop posting shit if you are gonna cry about it.
| |
um, lol?
| |
I kinda agree with you Darkwatch but know one is really bitching about this.
| |
Thank goodness it has different production to STAGD. Sounds like STD part 2, not too bad. Album should be better than expected...
| |
@Darkwatch025
I'm sorry the site's userbase has usually negative opinions about more mainstream metal acts. The song is great for what it is, make of that what you will, but out of the vocal users that are metalheads on sputnik a lot of the teenage users are more into metalcore and those that are a bit older are more into death and black metal. Stuff like this gets slagged all the time from heavy music fans everywhere because it treads a middle ground between rock and metal and if it has the misfortune of being from a band aligned at one point in their career with Melodic Death Metal that brings out even more bitching. You complaining about other's opinions isn't going to change that because people are going to look at posts like the one above and think you're some over-zealous super fan and write you of just like that. So take the high road and don't bitch about bitching. Just like what you like, because who the fuck is anyone on the internet to tell you that your taste is wrong. It is what it is, leave it at that and have fun listening to some cool tunes.
| |
I'm the only person who thought the last release was decent
This was pretty alright, nothing special by their standards though.
| |
red droppin' knowledge! Song was pretty cool
| |
actually really good I like this one
| |
Promising...
| |
woah, that was really good
Had no hopes for this album but if this song is any indication it sounds like 3.5-4 material.
| |
ThePalestMexican, you're not the only one, I thought there were some very good parts in STAGD (especially the song Sick Heart River).
| |
I liked it.
| |
liked the verses, thought the chorus was meh... i hope its just better than sworn to a great divide....
| |
As the Sleeper Awakes and Sick Heart River were the only really good songs on STAGD.
| |
20 More Miles, mang
| |
Am I the only one hearing a lot more dynamic riffing as compared to their last two releases?
Anyway, I like it a lot. Should be a anywhere between a 3.0-4.0
| |
Wichers/Coudret sound a hell of a lot better than Frenning/Antonsson. Album definitely has promise.
| |
Yeah I'm really digging this at the moment, maybe i'm just in a fantastic mood after watching the Yankees walk off but this song is the shit.
| |
Finally, Soilwork is back! honestly, I didn't hate Exile, but I didn't like it either. Now, I know a lot of people hated Stabbing The Drama, but I dug it and it is definitely a catchy album. This new song is most certainly great!
| |
song was pretty great
what the fuck happened to Soilwork
| |
Pretty good track, hope the rest of the album is even better. Though I kinda disliked the chorus.
| |
way better than the last album. Nice solo too
| |
I like it. Better than their previous album, which I also liked (but on recent listens not so much).
| |
It's not in B minor, which is quite uncommon for a Soilwork song. I very much like it, though.
| |
Chorus sounds like something Christian Älvestam could've done on his recent S.45 project. Sounds Pretty good actually. Only other song I can bare from this band is the title track of Stabbing The Drama.
| |
pretty solid track =)
| |
damn fine song, i'm really excited about this release
| |
I'm at work and can't check it out. Is it any good?
Reminded me of something off Stabbing the Drama which is a really good thing.
Just like what you like, because who the fuck is anyone on the internet to tell you that your taste is wrong.
Pretty much why Adam is the best staff member around here (and Chan too ; ) ).
| |
nevermind.
| |
i dunno guys...it was pretty good but im not convinced about the album yet. i'm predicting 3-3.5 at best, when they have the potential for 4 or even 4.5. i sincerely hope im wrong
| |
they never had potential for 4.5
| |
The best songs in Figure Number Five did. I really enjoyed that album but unfortunately it wasn't very consistent in quality.
| |
sounds like the recent AILD album
| |
FNF was awful lol
| |
yea FNF's their worst imo. I've got The Chainheart Machine at 4.5, but that's the only one that's even close to worth it
| |
Still, Figure had it's moments (Overload, Crancking the Sirens). StaGD is their worst IMO
| |
^yeah, well it's definitely between those two
| |
About half of FNF is amazing and about half is average. Other albums are somewhere in between but more consistent, except Sworn to a Great Divide, which is pretty much just average except for a couple of standout tracks. I'm not sure what to think about this new song yet. I do like the chorus very much, though.
| |
Rejection Role is the best song on Figure Number Five honestly.
| |
I don't know about the best, but the catchiest? 100% agreed
| |
Weak chorus, pretty good otherwise. Looking forward to it.
| |
I personally like everything they've done minus their last album.
| |
So catchy in fact, that RR ended up on one of the Headbanger's Ball discs, which is what got me interested in these guys to begin with. Fuckin MTV.
| |
Beginning riff sounds like something from Lamb of God's Wrath. Might be Contractor? Can't remember exactly, but they sound similar.
Hey, that wasn't terrible! Riffs were good, harsh vox weren't very harsh and clean vox weren't amazing, but a solid song.
| |
Except Wrath was boring as shit.
| |
I actually HAD noticed the Lamb of God resemblance. I thought it sounded a little more like something from Sacrament, although I'm probably not the right person to judge.
| |
I don't get the love for their earliest albums, they were pretty crap. FNF and STD are where its at.
| |
uh oh
| |
Damn enjoyable song, but chorus is kind of a shitstain. Verbeuren wins drum hero and it's good to hear Wichers. It's obvious he's back in the band.
| |
Oh, and the production is way better as well, the guitar tone in STaGD was VERY annoying.
| |
guitar leads were very good
| |
StaGD wasn't so bad
| |
^^I guess, but they did to guitars the same thing Lars Ulrich did to drums in St. Anger. I hate that "tin" sound in StaGD. Probably the only reason I couldn't force myself to like it that much
| |
Yes, that's what I was talking about earlier.
| |
Huh. I liked that. I had actually lost faith in them after the last album, but this was really cool.
| |
This song is excellent. Soilwork appears to back to their elite form, although their last album was only a slight
deviation from this refined and polished sound. Appears witchers had made a significant impact upon his return and
speeds vocals sound incredible. Very promising so far.
Drums are the best Ive ever heard, they possess groove while managing to remain technical and fast.
5/5
| |
Finally got around to listening to this all the way through. I've decided that I really like the chorus, because there's an interesting variation in harmonic rhythm. Vocals are just as strong as they were last album (which was really the only improvement in the last album to begin with), which is a plus.
If the rest of the album is like this, it would probably get a 3.5 or a 4 from me.
| |
Unexpectedly good.
