Watchtower, the godfathers of tech metal, have released a preliminary mix of their first new song since 1989. The track, "The Size of Matter", is taken from the band's upcoming album Mathematics and features the entire line-up from their seminal release Control & Resistance.
Alan Tecchio (Hades, Non-Fiction) - Vocals
Ron Jarzombek (Spastic Ink, Blotted Science) - Guitars
Doug Keyser (Retarded Elf) - Bass
Rick Colaluca (Retarded Elf) - Drums
I'm stuck at work with Myspace blocked. I'm sure most of you will hate this, but I'm looking forward to hearing it.
Digging: Sara Bareilles - The Blessed Unrest
get a u98 or another proxy server then
and get fired... I'll just wait.
Well speak of the devil, gonna listen now.
Digging: Das EFX - Dead Serious
That's what I was thinking.
Song is a real killer, the vocals are actually awesome! I think age has finally taken a toll on the singer which is really a good thing for once.
You mean he doesn't sound like Rob Halford kicked in the nuts? Damn, now I really can't wait to hear this (and Sick of It All, too).
The vocals aren't awesome, but I can see how you'd think that given the improvement over Alan Tecchio, who might be the worst vocalist of all time.
The song is great though, sounds right in line with their older material. Signature Jarzombek sound.

Same here, crap......
Digging: Logos - Cold Mission
bands need a better way than myspace to post new tracks/videos.
They haven't released anything in over 20 years. They could tell fans that they're only going to snail mail 8 track tapes and their fans would be buying up 8 track players on e-bay waiting for the song to arrive.
oh my god
Didn't seem that impressive to me, but I guess I was never that fond of their older 'stuff' either.
I preferred Jarzombek in Blotted Science. That's tech metal that's completely balls to the walls.
Digging: Stereolab - Transient Random-Noise Bursts with Announcements
For some reason I liked that.
well duh its awesome
Oh wow, this is pretty cool. The song isn't half bad. Surprising to see them still doing anything at all..
This will definitely take a few listens. It's nice to hear that they didn't make Alan Tecchio sing so high this time around. I wonder what happened to Jason Mcmaster (what ever his name is).
awesome, new Blotted Science please
Song fucking rules hard! It's noodling I can handle. To anybody that hasn't checked out Control and Resistance, do it now!
Digging: Demilich - Nespithe
I just listened to it again and it's starting to click finally.
It really took more than a few listens for you to enjoy this? I would think due to the better vocals this would be a lot easier to like than, say, Control and Resistance.
I listened twice last night when I got home from work. I might not have been paying as much attention as I did this morning. I'm listening to Control & Resistance right now - Mayday in Kiev rocks.
ehhhh vox still aren't my thing
They're definitely more listenable than before, no?
they are but still aren't my thing
I can get over the vox when the music is this good.
