Very few bands in that genre are above average, a lot of them are boring, and even more are shit.

old stuff was great deathcore. new stuff, not so much.

burning the masses = best deathcore.
but despised icon was pretty sick. it's a shame, but at least theyre calling it early instead of being around for 20+ years and sucking horribly

People hate on the genre because it sucks. You can't tell the difference between most of the bands, since they all sound exactly the same.

Chug, chug, chug, fast metalcore riff, breakdown, chug, breakdown, fast metalcore fast, breakdown, chug, chug, breakdown, breakdown, all with the same high pitched - deep growl vocals that are boring.

yes, Altough i admit the genre sucks major ass, with valid reasons. Purists include all deathcore band in the same lot stating that they suck because of all that repetitive breakdown crap that every deathcore kid seem to have an orgasm on. However some band like Despised icon separated themselves from the trend with a more technical sound, progressive, and thoughtfula and worked lyrics. All albums of DI were personally great. The last one is my favorite and ive been listening to them since ''Consumed by your poison''. Its sad too because those guys knew how to talk with the fans without being rockstars.

Everyone has deemed them one of the better deathcore bands and that they do stick out.
However, I still don't like them. They're just better than the other bands.

in response to now the second person ive seen here comparing despised icon to all shall perish saying ASP is far better:
all shall perish BLOWS. they have one generic bland and boring album, one decent album in which made the band accepted among the metal community, and then one GOD-DAMN AWFUL album.
THAT is the ASP discography right there(in the order of release), as much as anyone is concerned.
despised icon at least made an effort to push harder with each album. i'm almost certain the majority of people who despise this band only do so because their vocalists dress like wiggers (them, being the only two people in the band who do so)

I only liked their last album a bit, because it didn't have pig squeals. At last the fuckers realized how stupid, pointless and immature pig squeals were. And then they broke up. Oh well, probably would have started listening to them. Or maybe not - I fail to see the point in listening to deathcore, when you have pure death metal and melodic death around.
