Singer and actor Marvin Lee Aday, more commonly known as Meat Loaf is set to release his new album Hang Cool Teddy Bear on May 11. It will be a concept album. The singer has revealed part of the storyline already.
"I wanted it big, I wanted it dramatic, I wanted a rock record," Meat Loaf said via press statement regarding his new album. The iconic singer is back with 'Hang Cool Teddy Bear,' his first since 2006's 'Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose.' The new album will also be the singer's first with his new label Roadrunner/Loud & Proud.
The songs on 'Hang Cool Teddy Bear' were inspired by a short story written by Kilian Kerwin. The album is the story of a soldier on the brink of death. Instead of flashing to the past, the injured hero flashes forward. There are difference scenarios and life experiences, but one constant: a certain woman. The album title comes from a line in 'Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.'
'Hang Cool Teddy Bear' features many guest stars, including guitarists Steve Vai and Brian May and actor Hugh Laurie. Laurie is a classically trained pianist, and he lends a hand on the song 'If I Can't Have You.' 'American Idol' judge Kara DioGuardi also appears on 'If I Can't Have You,' both as a songwriter and singer.
The album will be produced by Rob Cavallo, known for his work with punk group Green Day.
Inevitable comments that Meat sucks or is fat or anything to do with Bat .. ancient history!
Hang Cool IS cool .. new sound, new style with huge guitars up front, killer drums and Meat's cleanest vocals in years on some raunchy lyrics.
