Stone Temple Pilots Finish Album
2010-02-24 by Conor | 41 Comments
San Diego, California's popular hard rock/grunge band, Stone Temple Pilots, have completed work on their as yet untitled sixth studio album.

The album is set for an early summer release and is notable because it is the band's first since 2001's Shangri La-Dee-Da. The new record was previewed at a private listening party in New York City with all of the band members in attendance. The songs have been hailed as a "natural progression" for the band with some "Beatle-esque" moments as well as some "fantastic singing" from vocalist Scott Weiland.

I'm pretty stoked for this, especially since Shangri-La-Dee-Da wasn't all that great but their reunion tour was kickass so yeah

Let's hope this is good. I saw them live in '08 and Weiland basically ruined the show with his stupid junkie antics, showing up over an hour late and rambling throughout most of the set. Dude didn't even know where he was 1/2 the time

I saw them in '08 as well, and it was one of the best concerts I have been to.

I dont have very high hopes for this but I'm still excited since its STP. I still jam out to Core and Purple on a regular basis.

Lets hope that ridiculous lyrics like "Feeling like a hand in rusted shame so do you laugh or does it cry" make it on here. Seriously, great song, terrible lyrics.

I had read in an interview that Weiland said this would sound more like a companion to Core and Purple. That would be good

Of course he's saying that. It's want everyone wants to hear. More proof, less talk, I say. Stream a song from that new album.

I saw them in november too. They came to Regina and it was a great concert. Weiland didn't seem to bad and he sang great. It was one of the better concerts i've been too. Let's hope this album lives up to the reviews hype.

STP were quality from Core to Tiny Music and probably had the best singles of any alt-rock band of the 90's. Not the most original band, but fucking really, none of their contemporaries were either tbqfh
