Burden of a Day Split... Sort Of

2010-02-19 by AmericnZero02 | 46 Comments
Post-hardcore quintet Burden of a Day have decided to start fresh with a new band name and musical direction after the completion of a few final shows.

While working on their upcoming album, the band decided to take their music in directions that would benefit from a fresh start. This new band will continue with all current members of Burden of a Day. An excerpt from the band's myspace page has stated:

From album to album BOAD has stylistically grown, superseding efforts each time. With those efforts comes risk. And now we are taking a risk that we never have before. We are so proud of the new CD we are writing and are confident in its ability to take the band places we have all never been. With that being said, we want to give it a fair chance with a fresh start. NO members are leaving, NO break up is happening, but everything is changing. The members of Burden are more passionate about making movement with their music than ever. and that is simply what we are doing. A NEW band is coming, one that we know no one will expect, no one can avoid, and wont disappoint.

They had two amazing tracks on Blessed Be, but other than that I am not a fan.

I could see them going indie or pop/punk feasibly.

I have a feeling it's gonna be like Before Their Eyes. No way they are going to get heavier. Because their vocalist thinks he is the next big fucking thing..He's good but he isn't anywhere near spectacular.

Amazing potential is most likely being thrown away, it's a sad sad day

I agree with PinkBlackberry, I believe they are going to change to a more melodic/pop rock sound and I really don't think the vocalist is that great. Hes good, but without the screams to change things up in their songs, I think his voice will get a tad boring. Hopefully, I am wrong, but we'll see.

I REALLY REALLY don't like the new singer's voice. Blessed Be > OneOne and my verdict remains. cowboys > whiny singing :C

but seriously. what could the new band POSSIBLY sound like?

Blessed Be is better than OneOne, but that doesn't say a lot, considering Blessed Be is cookie cutter Christcore

Haha. That'd be hilarious.

Probably will just drop the screaming and add more acoustic guitar. They're a decent metalcore, popcore or whatever the fuck you wanna call it but I could really care less.

They're a christian band? I had no idea. Hopefully this will be an upgrade like the Stutterfly to Secret and Whisper transition was.

Secret and Whisper?

I always assumed they were just a Saosin tribute band or something.

if they were going to go pop they would keep their name and just throw screaming in every now and then. i'm feeling either indie or melodic hardcore.

bah it's gonna suck though, Blessed Be was their best album, and likely will go down as their best . . . and I don't see th point of a name change since everyone will still consider them BOAD

Its cuz if they release somethin freakishly different most fans will hate on em for not stickin to what they play..

The name "Burden of a Day" sounds like a typical post hardcore band.
With the name change it gives the haters of this band the oppurtunity to chekk em out again to see if they like the new sound

New guy>Kendall

He's definitely a solid vocalist. His low-pitched screams are great and his voice live sounds exactly like it does on the record.

I'm gonna miss BoaD. They did that mix of heavy and catchy really well imo.

i love these guys. i used to be on staff at a local music venue and they came and played in the middle of a snowstorm. like 10 people showed up and they were still nothing but nice to all of us there. i wish kendall were still in the band but the new guy is pretty good too.
