Probably my least favorite Sonny Kay cover ever.

STOP RELEASING A SOLO ALBUM EVERY TWO MONTHS.

Edit: Everyone who kept bitching for a TMV acoustic album finally gets it. For the record, it's not very good.

This just barely falls under the category of what I consider to be news, being that it's so cyclical that it's entirely predictable. I mean, is it news when the sun comes up? Is it news when moon becomes full? Is it news when my grandpa takes a crap at the same time every morning? I think the only time Omar deserves a news article is when three weeks have passed and he hasn't released an album.

He can release as many shitty albums as he wants, nobody has to listen if they don't want to

Before you know it Omar will be releasing his uninspired solo albums on a daily basis.
Seriously though, does this guy ever think that if he maybe cut down his solo releases to *gasp* once a year he might come up with something new and interesting instead of stripped down and brutally beaten versions of The Mars Volta songs.

holy crap this took me by surprise.

I think he should tone it down, but at the same time he has stated that he has a ton of stuff he has recorded just to channel it onto something

why should he "tone it down"? i dont think he releases all of these records to please anyone but himself to be honest.

i like how the acoustic and bass near the middle of Jueves revisit the bassline in the middle section of Inertiatic ESP

It's alright. It's fine on an individual song level, just repetitive in larger doses.

Nearly all of his solo stuff has been albums I listen to once and then forget about completely. The only album I listened to a few times was the Buffalo one.

I enjoyed Xenophanes and Old Money plenty, but everything else has been either frustrating or boring.

"Omar Rodriguez-Lopez has released his first solo album of 2010"

this brought a giggle. he's one of the few artists who's expected to do far more than 1 a year. and hey, good for him for keeping busy doing what he loves. and lord knows how much stuff he has that hasn't been released. i think he said in an interview that between every volta album, he's written one that he didn't find worthwhile. guy's a machine.

All the albums are good... Granted there are too many to listen to them all again and again. But, hey, gotta give the man props.

Thsi album is actually really good. I keep giving the majority of Omar albums "4"s (though a couple are terrible and warrant "2"s at best). I don't think this album deserves more than a 4, but I almost want to give it 4.5 just because it's different than all the rest... Really good, reminds me of Charles Mingus w less jazz.
