The Who Play The Super Bowl

2010-02-06 by JohnXDoesn't | 61 Comments
Well as it seems, "hope I die before I get old" IS just a dumb phrase after all.

To please fans of all ages, The Who (or what is left of them) will be performing what Pete Townshend is referring to as a"CSI mash up" for tomorrows Super Bowl Halftime Show. What is a "CSI mash up," you ask? Well, not really. You don't give a damn. But I will tell you, anyway.

It's essentially what these old geezers do for events like this. Pull out Won't get Fooled Again, Baba 'O Riley, Who Are You, and a couple songs from the 1969 rock opera Tommy. The CSI connection? Well, millions of Americans hear these songs every week as the lead in for their favorite TV shows! So, as you can tell, the over 40 TV watching demographic is going to be stoked!

The Who are my favorite band. And yes, this is an editorial. Anyway, they are my favorite band ever. If you know rock history, you know The Who. They are in their 60's, singer Roger Daltrey has lost his voice, but guitarist Pete Townshend can still slash and burn with the best of them. So, I am bringing you this news to wish them the best of luck.

And to ask you, if you don't know who they are and are watching the "Big Game" tomorrow, if they embarrass themselves, don't laugh too much. Instead, listen to what they once were. Lots of great things can be found in the songs of Pete Townshend and The Who.

So, this has been your "Who Super Bowl News" of the day.

This is news on the cusp, man. Right on the cusp...

don't be distracted by that nonsense, however. that will not be what he is remembered for, obviously. that whole affair was a something of a bad joke. only not very funny, i am afraid

@ohnoestehmusik
He got forced to be put on a sex offender list after being caught looking at child porn on the internet, which he claims he was doing for the sole purpose of doing research on child sex crimes, because he was himself molested as a child.

This was posted several months back. 'New's has to be new. Also, I refuse to listen to a band today and imagine 'what they once were'. If they can no longer perform, they shouldn't be performing just to ride on their old fame. If I want to envision a 'band as it once was', they have albums for that.

Someone mentioned the singer.

Anyway, I can't say for certain if he can or not, I was just saying bands in general shouldn't be allowed that sort of thing, not specifically targeting The Who. They may be spectacular nowadays too, we'll find out.

btw, rewriting an article that people are already aware of isn't considered news. i have yet to see one on this site that talks about the new version of "we are the world."

The vocals were pretty terrible. The only saving grace, honestly, was the crazy ass stage/lazer/led show shit. Past that, meh, it really was just a CSI menagerie since they're on CBS.
