At least I had the chance to see this guys live once before he passed on. I was totally blown away by his performance. The fact that he was center stage with the rest of maserati at his sides (or behind him) said a lot about his skill behind the kit. RIP, good sir.

I'd never do anything to disrespect someone dying, but honestly, this is like a Darwin Award. Just because he was a musician and on this site doesn't make it glorified. The poor guy died an awful way, but I still think it was an idiotic thing to do in the first place. RIP.

he fell down an elevator shaft? good god. this fuckin sucks.

and i think being a drummer in the band is just bad for your health. From the link: "In 2005, then-drummer Mikel Gius was run
down
and killed as he rode his bike on a Sacramento street."

What the shit? I just saw those guys open for Mono a month or so ago and he was the only good part of their set. He rocked the shit out of his kit.

Who the hell falls downs an elevator shaft anyway? Rest in peace man, you will be missed. Maybe I'll upload the video I took of Maserati where he's going absolutely apeshit on his bass drum...

^read the article he and his friend(forgot guy's name) were trying to get off the elevator because it stopped at the 5th floor and his friend jumped over the gap but the drummer got caught and was pulled back and fell through the gap.

Fuchs is the second Maserati drummer to meet a tragic end. In 2005, then-drummer Mikel Gius was run down and killed as he rode his bike on a Sacramento street

Wow. The start of a curse?

Are you kidding me? His clothes got caught on the elevator that stopped feet above ground. It was a freak accident, not an act of stupidity.

Personally, I'd love to think neither of them should have jumped. It wasn't a freak accident. If the elevator FELL, then maybe. But he jumped off an elevator stuck five feet from the exit. Would you jump betweein five story buildings like that? Getting his shirt stuck and falling is a definate tragedy, but he shouldn't have jumped in the first place. The getting caught = accident, not even a 'freak one'. The jumping = an act of stupidity. For him AND the friend that made it.

Its 5 feet man, not some huge jump. Plus it was a manual elevator, how else would they have gotten off it? Even if they called the authorities, they probably would have had to jump anyway, and the same thing could have happened.
