Canadian PM Covers The Beatles
2009-10-05 by Dave Donnelly STAFF | 25 Replies | 1769 Views

In the greatest convergence of popular music and prime ministering since Britain's Gordon Brown proclaimed Arctic Monkeys to be his favourite band despite never having heard their music, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper bumped his approval rating several percentage points with a performance of the Fab Four's 'With A Little Help Of My Friends' alongside cellist Yo Yo Ma at a concert in Ottawa.

Cover was great, I love how the audience laughs at him when he sings "I need somebody to love".

fuck, was gonna post this but figured it would get negged or not counted as news.

New found props for my PM, despite the fact that he's still an android that seems bent on ruining our country

Not a bad cover actually. Too bad Harper is a tool, bent on ruining this country.

I figured it wouldn't take long for something like this to show up. Keep your political opinions to yourself.

"I figured it wouldn't take long for something like this to show up. Keep your political opinions to yourself."

I'm sorry, I must have missed the "don't mention politics when discussing a political figure" sign at the top of this thread. I'm also hardly the first person in this thread (see: third) who expressed his dislike of Stephen Harper and his politics. I merely commented on the fact that although the performance was pretty good, I still don't like the man and his beliefs (in like, ONE sentence). I didn't realize this was "too political" to be handled by the Sputnik readership.

Cover was great. I wasn't expecting that from the PM. He did look ridiculously pale though. BTW, anyone who seriously thinks Harper is "bent on ruining this country" needs to have their head checked, or at least reevaluate how they express disapproval of political leadership.

PM should cover Frank Zappa. His cover of the Beatles was nice to see.
