Jay-Z Is America's Most Wanted
2009-09-17 by scyther | 43 Comments

New York rapper Jay-Z has become a Billboard record holder with the release of The Blueprint 3.

The Blueprint 3's #1 finishes means Jay-Z has recorded the most #1 solo albums since the chart's inception, surpassing the king of rock n' roll, Elvis Presley. Only the Beatles have recorded more.

some people may not care for him, but give him credit that's impressive.

You're right, the record is much better in the hands of a drug-addict who died while taking a shit.

More like 3/4. And even that isn't really an accomplishment.

the sad thing is, is he really is young so he has years to sell more number ones. miley cyrus is gonna have a lot of work to do.

Aren't these lists more reminiscent of the artist than the album anyway? Jay-Z's huge, certainly nothing we couldn't have gathered before this, let alone something to be concerned about.

comments like "what has our culture come to" and "music is dead" are ignorant as shit and you should realize why a great artist as this is where he is

even if you're not a fan of the genre, the talent this guy has put out consistently over the years is evident

I don't like hip-hop, but Jay-Z - as they say - is "pretty tight". He deserves to be selling that well.

I think the number I saw mentioned was 11 #1's. I didn't even know he had 11 albums. Can someone clarify this number?

That doesn't seem to corroborate the article though. And I'm guessing they're counting both Blueprint 2 and 2.1? I'm not totally sure.

There are about 200,000 CD's bought under the name of Shawn Carter in a crate somewhere in New York. That CD was so much worse than i really expected it to be, at least untill after i finally heard "Run This City"
