Pennywise Vocalist Quits

2009-08-21 by Adam Thomas EMERITUS | 27 Comments
Singer Jim Lindberg has left Pennywise after over 20 years with the band. He has been the band's main songwriter since their formation in 1988.

He released the following statement announcing his departure: "After 20 years, nine albums and thousands of shows around the world, my time in Pennywise has come to an end. Being the singer for this band has been an amazing experience, and along the way we made some of the best fans anyone could ask for. There are few things that made me more proud than seeing people at our shows singing our songs, and it’s your support and encouragement that’s kept me going this long. would sincerely like to thank everyone who helped us along the way and wish everyone in the Pennywise family the best of luck and continued success.”

They may not have done anything that worthwhile recently, but this fucking sucks. Without Jim there's no Pennywise. Every time I've seen them they were great live and Full Circle is one of my favorite albums of the 90's.

Whoa brah, say it ain't so. Seriously, though, I loved this band in high school, and they've always been entertaining live.

+1 such a classic line, way to bring it back. I think this is on par with the Blackwater Park intro. Never was big on these guys...at all.

One of my favorite bands of all time. I still remember the day I bought their 1st CD.

I had a feeling that all of my favorite 90's punk bands would eventually start breaking up being that it is 2009, but that doesn't make it any easier to deal with.

Wasn't funny back then, and promotes a long loud fart this time around as well

Looks like they're going to get a new singer and carry on. I like Pennywise quite a lot, but hopefully a new singer will bring some new influences and ambition to change their (fairly predictable) sound.

Wait! Can't believe it. Another victim, another life, another wasted casualty.

Band needs to break up, and replace "fairly predictable" with "Bro'd Religion"

A little part of me died when I just read this. My high school days must be well and truly over, then.

Chris Cornell new lead singer?
