last album wasn't bad. wasn't mindblowing either. they put on a mean live show though
|
| |
I'm sorry, did you just say 'A matter of life and death' wasn't mind blowing?
|
| |
yes
brighter than a thousand suns rips though
|
| |
Not allowed to quit yet, have to see them live first.
|
| |
I loved that album when it first came out.
but with all this 'somewhere back in time' stuff, I'm hoping some of the 80's material makes a comeback...
|
| |
this is great news, maiden are my all time favourite band :D
but still they should only continue to release albums if they are still of a high quality
just my 2 cents
|
| |
Is "Quittung" a town just east of Late Titikaka?
|
| |
Awesome.
|
| |
Cool beans.
|
| |
good news, Nagrarok is going to jizz in his pants.
|
| |
Long live MAIDEN!!!

And would you know that I've seen this band live more than any other... 3 times. They sounded phenominal, and AMOLAD was a fantastic record. I just hope they don't burn out.
|
| |
Yeah they are absolutely brilliant live. Can't wait to see them again and can't wait to hear what they'll do next.
|
| |
A Matter of Life and Death is an awesome album what are you talking about. wtf.
|
| |
quittung
(amolad was not good either)
|
| |
Quittung means an acknowledgement, handshake, or something of the sort in German.
|
| |
good news, Nagrarok is going to jizz in his pants. Yay! Britain's finest keep on rockin'!
I did find 15 a rather fitting number for total studio albums, but I give them my blessing (naturally), as long as the keep up the quality and don't take a dump on their legacy (which is easier said than done). As for AMOLAD, it wasn't bad, neither was it that good. And Maiden still put out classic material in the form of These Colours Don't Run, Brighter than a Thousands Suns and my personal favourite, The Longest Day.
How much I may love Maiden, I've always been objective about them, so they had better come up with good stuff. And coincedentially, I'm going to get The X Factor and Virtual XI tomorrow, since the prices have FINALLY dropped. I was NOT going to spend 40 Euros on those two albums. They're underrated, but there is better music to spend my money on. And then, at last, I shall have all of the studio outputs + Live After Death.

excellent news
|

NO DON'T CANCEL QUITTUNG
They haven't made a decent album in ages, but the more live shows they do the better.

As long as they keep putting out fine albums I'll be satisfied, even if they're half as good as NotB or Powerslave
|
| |
Number of the beast is overrated obv
amolad ruled also.
|
| |
6!! 6 6!!!!
|
| |
da numba of da beest
|
| |
Hell and fire was spawned to be released...
|
| |
Powerslave tbh.
|
| |
Hooray
|
| |
My favorite is Somewhere In Time Dickinson record.
I think NOB is terribly overrated.
Saw these guys in New York in 2003 and they were amazing.
From what I have heard from various live bootlegs from the past two tours, Bruce's vocals are sounding great.
Up The Irons!!!
The same can't be said about Judas Priest right now unfortunately....
|

Its pretty stupid that an artist has a planned quit date. It defeats the purpose of being an artist.
|
| |
If by being an artist you mean being total fucking badasses, then yes, Maiden should not have a quit date.
|
| |
no offense because I totally love Maiden, but they have already been rocking well into old age!
|
| |
I also find The Number of the Beast to be slightly less than one of the top 10 metal albums, as many call it, because I just can't seem to like it better than Brave New World...but it's certainly still worthy of a 5.
|
| |
A Matter Of Life and Death was ok, nothing great. But they still rule the world of metal just because theyre Maiden.
|
| |

|
| |
Their last 3 albums, yes including A Matter Of Life And Death have been 3 of my favorites. I hope they keep going.
|
| |
Brave New World has so much more diversity, especially with the three guitarists that really helps, and it uses the volume, riffs, progressions, and music as tools rather than for its own sake. That's why Master of Puppets is so good..
The production is possibly the best I've ever heard, every second is exquisite, and overall it just screams "Blackwater Park fighter!" in the way it was constructed, almost like Akerfeldt & crew would be doing it. It's not going to beat Blackwater Park head-to-head, but it's as close as Maiden get to Opeth.
To get an idea of how great an album it is: My mother liked it.
|
| |
I do have major trouble with some of the choruses on BNW (title track, for example). They're often boring and sung way too many times. I get your points, but I won't be agreeing with you. I've always preferred Birch's production over Shirley's, but that's probably personal taste. All Maiden albums have great production, even s/t, in that case the production suits the music.
And whether you mother likes it says nothing about the quality of an album.
|
| |
I prefer to hear the live versions of BNW songs than the studio ones, especially the title track.
|
| |
"last album sucked really bad kind of like most of the dickinson albums"
Umm Accident of Birth, Tyranny Of Souls and more so Chemical wedding kind of rule.
|
| |
I prefer to hear the live versions of BNW songs than the studio ones, especially the title track. My thoughts exactly.
|
| |
maiden can never die (quit)- they're just too good.
n if they do kick the bucket (not likely for immortal gods) their music will live on! they always havea fan in me...
