Axl to sue Guitar Hero?

2008-12-18 by jingledeath | 29 Comments
Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose has slammed Activision and its Guitar Hero series for using his band’s songs without permission.

The star wrote an open letter to fans suggesting he may be seeking legal action.

While he confirmed he did not object to former Guns guitarist Slash’s involvement in Guitar Hero III, Rose claimed the songs ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ and ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ had been used in an “unauthorized” state.

“Slash being in Guitar Hero is fine, but no when Activision in using ‘Jungle’ unauthorized,” he wrote. “I wasn’t broadsided. I read about it as it moved along but Activision continually denied it right up to the release. That’s some low life chicanery on all their parts.

“Yes, Slash was in Guns and on ‘Jungle’ and he has rights to perform it, but not to be represented in this context in association with Guns. And since they weren’t granted the license, it’ll take some sorting.”

hahahahaha

Seriously, this guy is just being a dick. He doesn't need any more money, for fuck's sake let the people play Guns N' Roses on guitar hero without worrying about whether their deranged lead vocalist will sue.

"Axl Rose to sue Best Buy for creating a sign to promote his new album without letting him know...Axl stated he was blindsided by the jump in sales and should have been told they were promoting it."

I suppose by shoving chinease democracy down our throats in any way, shape or form Axl's making sure we can't ignore his little project here. Guess he's tryin to use publicity to make a mediocre album into a interesting one....hahahaha.

Even if he does have a point...the song was featured in Guitar Hero III...there's already a Guitar Hero IV...and he admits to reading about the game so if he wanted to sue them why not a year ago?

I would say 'can't blame a guy for wanting to protect his work', but that's just not the case here.
Iluvatar's got a point there, as well.

Guitar Hero sucks. Hopefully he will sue them and they will go out of business so people will learn to play a real instrument

this is relatively similar to Metallica suing napster, in the regard that if Activision is really taking people's music without paying for it, and making money off of it, then something should be done. Unfortunately at this point people have trouble sympathizing with Axl Rose...much like people had trouble sympathizing for Metallica...but there would be smaller artists that could potentially be missing out on some well deserved royalties.

...oh and I'd put my money on the fact that Activision does have the rights to the song...how would they be stupid enough to use a Guns N Roses song without permission in something that is such a pop culture phenomenon.

I love sitting back and watching Axl lose his marbles more everyday!...

Is there actually anybody he hasn't sued? He took a couple of thousand off me for critisising him and his new album. Easy come easy go... Can't believe he beat me in that case!

Oh, Axl...

I believe corey taylor said it best about chinese democracy...or maybe it was coldplay. Whatever.

“That is one of the most self-celebratory pieces of **** I’ve ever ******* heard in my entire ******* life, go suck a ******* ****. Are you watching Axl? Suck it. Go eat a bag of ****. I ******* hate that album. It’s music to wipe your *** to.”

I'm really starting to like this insult template. Takes the thought RIGHT OUT!
