Another Radiohead album in the works?

2008-09-13 by Alex101 | 23 Comments
Radiohead have been working on the follow-up to their recent In Rainbows album.

Speaking to BBC 6music after losing the Nationwide Mercury Prize to Elbow on Tuesday (September 9), the band's Ed O'Brien said that they plan to work on their next album after touring commitments.

"We're still talking about doing some stuff and we're really excited about it," he said. "First we came off tour to do some writing and we wanted to carry on doing it because it was so brilliant."

The band recently wrapped up a tour of North America, and will head to Japan for a series of dates in October.

That's what I was hoping for when I read the news. I hope the next Radiohead album won't take another 4 or 5 years.

Super Collider?

As always, I have an extremely high set of expectations when it comes to Radiohead. They better not disappoint.

Radiohead can do no wrong. Even if the next album is bad, it's just another step in their all knowing plan, from creative to derivative, exciting to boring. It's just another transformation.

I'm interested... Where do they go from here? Anywhere the hell they want, knowing them. We'll see, it's bound to be good, really.

ya, chill out, Radiohead aren't universal gods, sheesh. Well I've now been a Radiohead fan for a good 4 months and really like them, I would love for them to bring back their Amnesiac sound, god do I love that album

if they rush it, they might half-ass it. and that's the last thing that i'd want because when they make stuff that rules, it really rules. but i know that most of the people on here would jizz all over it even if it was a st anger cover album.

what has radiohead ever rushed?

I doubt they'll rush it...I imagine they'll spend quite a bit of time stewing over the new material, arrangements and stuff.

I hope they go back to a little more abrasive-ish sound. In Rainbows was great, but I think that's about as far as they can go in the chill, minimalistic direction.

Wouldn't mind seeing "Lift" end up on the album. Doubtful, but whatever.

Anyways, I'm intrigued...

Good to see they're working on new material, without a 3-4 year gap.

Well, "In Rainbows" sucked! ...lets try again and maybe if they release an album in a shorter time frame, the new material will be better since they will have been in full blown active mode from touring on this latest album and won't be rusty from a 4 year wait like the current release.
Cheerz!
