New Slipknot Album News

2008-05-14 by ninjuice | 51 Comments
The members of Slipknot have little doubt that their new album, due August 12th, will please fans.

"It's going to rip your face off," says Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor. "I don't think the world will be ready for this album."

Taylor describes the album as a cross between Iowa and Vol. 3, adding, "It has so much power in it and yet there are so many great spots for melody. It's a controlled chaos that hits you right out of the gate."

After the release of their last album, some of the members took a break to focus on other projects. Taylor toured with his band Stone Sour, promoting the release of Come What(Ever) May.

"But the whole time we were doing the Stone Sour album, I was writing and figuring stuff out for the Slipknot album," Taylor recalls. "So when it came time to work this, I already had notebooks full of stuff and my own musical ideas."

The band will co-headline the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Tour, and then likely take a month off before touring in Europe.

Well their other albums weren't all that heavy, so if this one is going to rip my face off...it better be much different.

Dude, Iowa was freaking heavy as all shit. Whether you like them or not, they were super duper heavy back in the day.

Remember how Charles Bronson made like 37 Death Wish movies, not because they needed to be made or because they were any good, but simply because he felt like it?
I think Slipknot is experiencing the same thing. Darn shame.

Except for the fact that they haven't really put out a bad album, inserttacoshere. Its just a cool thing to hate on slipknot nowadays. I am saying this and they're not even in my top 15 fav bands.

Nah I don't hate Slipknot. Vol 3 wasn't a bad cd. But I feel like even with the bit of maturity that they shown with each new album, they're not really offering anything different or doing anything that nobody's heard before. It's all kind of trite. But then again, I like Norma Jean and As I Lay Dying, neither of whom are exactly groundbreaking nowadays either. In all fairness, I hope that Corey Taylor proves me wrong and this is the best and most innovative Slipknot that anyone could imagine.

With horrific earthquakes in China and totalitarian isolationist countries denying aid to their own residents (i.e., Myanmar), I agree that the world is probably not ready for another array of mindless songs, although I very much respect Corey Taylor’s vocal abilities.

I hope Corey's voice isn't shot to hell on this one, on Vol.3 and subsequent live performances his voice sounded like it was absolutely wrecked.

Actually pretty exited for this release. Slipknot has some good material, especially on Vol.3, so I'm hoping that this'll be even better. Something about this gives me a good feeling.

Riiight...so were back 2 the good ol' days when the "bash Slipknot" bandwagon is back in motion! How fun I cant wait to make fun of how much Corey Taylor sux and how ridiculous this band is!!!

No, seriously, this albums going to kick some ass. Pretty much the only thing that could fuck this up is Corey but I have faith in him...

If by masterpiece you mean a bunch of grown men hitting cans and pissing on drums.

Seriously, how long could it possibly take to write a new Slipknot album. I could write the guitar riffs for every song in 3 hours tops. That "How to play like an ass****" video on youtube says it all.

Eck...

"I don't think the world will be ready for this album".

I don't think the world cares at this point. Slipknot are rather predictable. I already know what it'll sound like.

Unless they do the obligatory "difficult" trip-hop album. Which would be rather amusing. Or, like, a booty bass record.
