Protest the Hero Remix Contest

2008-04-09 by Trey STAFF | 14 Comments
Protest The Hero are inviting Metal Hammer readers to remix Sequoia Throne from their Fortress album. The band will listen to all entries and the winning remix will be included in their album bundle available from iTunes and will feature on a future Metal Hammer CD.

All you need is music editing software such as Garageband (which comes free with all new Apple Macs), or feed them into your Cubase, Samplitude, ProTools or similar sound-mangling software. If you're not Rick Rubin and don't have these to hand don't worry. You can download demo versions of all these and more for free.

So whether you want to make an electro industrial version, or simply make Sequoia Throne the heaviest track known to man, download the files and see what you can come up with! And remember, you can always add your own solos, synths or samples to make it stand out. Once you've made your Grammy-winning remix, email an mp3 to metalhammer@futurenet.co.uk and put Protest The Hero in the subject line.

I've only used Garageband a little bit... maybe I'll play around with it since I'll have the tracks to use.
