Dave Mustaine Slams Bass Players

 Full-time rocker and part-time high school-level political activist Dave Mustaine has spoken out against politicians who just won't leave music to the "professionals," bass players and kazooists in ABC News interview aired last week.
When shown a video of Republican Presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee jamming with local musicians while on the campaign trail, Mustaine made no effort to conceal his feelings, stating, "This is so bad" and, confusingly, "that's a cardinal sin, you don't talk to the other musicians during the song. It shows you're bored with who you're playing with."
He added: "Besides the bass isn't a difficult instrument to play. It's one step up from the kazoo isn't it?" Dave should know- he's mastered the two most difficult skills in music, playing rhythm guitar and singing in a thrash metal band. He also knows a thing or two about politics, or so he likes to believe. He poured scorn upon musicians who don't back up their political polemics with action in a Metal Edge interview last year, noting that he put his name forward for the draft an impressive seven years after it was discontinued. Now that's commitment.
Said Dave: "I think as far as politics are concerned in music, most musicians shouldn't say anything unless they're willing to get into the trenches and fight. I put in my Selective Service card when I was 18, but I didn't get drafted. In 1992 I went to the White House with the Rock the Vote campaign for the Democratic National Convention coverage. I was a participant in getting a bill passed into law, so I am ingrained in the history of this country. I'm probably one of the very few musicians, and the only one in metal that I know of [to do that]. But I'm also the unofficial elected official of the disenfranchised youth of America. I can get into the focus groups and actually say what is relevant. Even though I'm not 18 anymore or struggling with Stridex and testosterone, I do still have an 18-year-old inside of me."
Dave Mustaine is a wonderful man.

Compared to rhythm/lead guitar and drums it is. And anyone who can play guitar would have absolutely no trouble playing a bass. That's probably what is meant by saying it's an easy intrument.

Reznor, as a bassist i would argue that anyone who can play the bass can easily pick up a guitar. Its far easier to sound like a good guitarist than a good bassist. I agree the bass can be easy to pick up and play root notes etc, but to master the bass you need to be inventive and free thinking, much more so than on the guitar

Well most instruments are easy to pick up. To master any instrument is hard. Dave probably would have said any instrument he was playing is "easy to play" unless it was guitar, and if it was, he'd just say it sucked. There's really no logic behind that statement at all.

Bass is a very very easy instrument to pick up quick, and (this may be because i played bass for 4 years before guitar) harder to master.. his band is a joke anyway.. one good album (good at best) does not qualify this guy to be this much of a cunt

There acually IS a video of this. I was watching it last week after I read about his note to James and Lars. It just shows Dave bitching that he never got a second chance and that he lost his one family when he was kicked out. He also mentions that he protected Lars at a party or something.
