Kinda late to the party eh? Anyways good song and cant wait for the album.

Why are his clean vocals so shrill now?

Band peaked over 10 years ago with Discovering the Waterfront.
|
| |
You mean 4 years ago with This Is How
|
| |
No, I don't. That album, well, literally everything A&D and beyond have been ultra formulaic re-hashes or b-sides.
|
| |
This is how the wind shifts is, and it's not even close, their best album. It's really not close.
lol @ calling their most inventive and musically creative album in their disco "formulaic b-side trash"
|
| |
Most consistent band ever, getting a little stagnant though
|
| |
"Band peaked over 10 years ago with Discovering the Waterfront."
I actually think the contrary is the case: They are getting better and better.
|
| |
Can't wait for this!
|
| |
This Is How The Wind Shifts is easily their best album, it's not even close
|
| |
Kinda more of the same but the same rules in this case.
|
| |
Be honest, when did you guys start listening to Silverstein?
Are you into anything other than the listless, cookie-cutter metalcore this band based on Discovering the Waterfront? Because if that's your jam, I'll understand. But, to pretend these guys have a) done anything better than their first two albums and/or b) really done anything at all that isn't immediately recognizable as Silverstein and therefore not innovative/inventive/fresh/good in 2017, then I fear you are stuck in the same mind-numbing loop they have been in for 10 sad years.
I can't give you any similar recs because this style has been dead for what I suspect is potentially equal to half of your natural lives.
|
| |
This Is How is their best album EZ
Edit: Holy shit me and Steak agree on a band's best album is this a first?
|
| |
I'll check it again, but if it feels like nothing more than Senses Fail's more proficient older brother, you will be discredited as a user for life- you and Steak both, and I like you guys.
|
| |
You think these guys are better than SF? Ok
|
| |
Better? Eh???? Can't say.
Just looking for a comparison. They do have some similarities in that they both peaked 10 years ago and both bank on nasal, catchy pop punk chrouses mixed with weak, gimicky breakdowns.
|
| |
I wouldn't say SF peaked 10 yrs ago since they switched it up on Renacer and that album was fresh and is probably their best. I understand everything else I guess even tho you are being a bitch about it lol
|
| |
rip why didn't my news article come through?
|
| |
thought your name said bulldog and almost shit a brick
|
| |
jesus christ why are they still goin
|
| |
by generic metalcore standards this is rlly good. but i dunno if they'll keep up with the consistency of the last few albums this time around.
jesus christ why are they still goin
because they seem to be able to continue making good records
|
| |
highly disagree on that point
theyve been making the same samey shit for years
|
| |
This doesn't even sound remotely original
|
| |
ive never rlly found originality to be a necessary qualifier of good music. the last couple weezer albums, for example.
this is how the wind shifts is a real good example. sounds like the same old silverstein playin the same old warped tour post hardcore yet the songs are fantastic.
|
| |
Stopped listening to these guys after A&D's disappointment, expected this to be much worse
|
| |
dbizzles I like you too, we usually share similar opinions, but I'm not budging on this haha. I at least think Waterfront is their second best.
Also I was shocked as well Sempiturtle lmao, it's not common that we agree on stuff like this
|
| |
saying silverstein hasn’t grown or evolved in any way makes it pretty obvious you havent actually listened to anything since DTW.
its all unmistakably silverstein, but theyve honed and perfected their brand of post hardcore. The riffs are top notch and the vocal interplay (despite it being just one dude) is tops.
|
| |
they're definitely like silverstein 2.0 now. the difference between DTW and wind shifts is certainly not stylistic, but the latter sounds insanely confident, like a band that's really mastered what they do, even if what they do is play music that's commonly understood to be pretty juvenile.
|
| |
Sorry, guys. Had a long, shitty day yesterday, got sauced and took it out on an inoffensive Canadian band and some cool users. My apologies.
|
| |
It's all good broski, we all have shitty days. We still cool my man m/
|
| |
Those bastards said Ghost was a standalone! Liars!
|
| |
who cares stand alone singles are typically shit anyway
|
| |
You mean 4 years ago with This Is How [2] I Am Alive in Everything I Touch could not live up to the quality of This Is How The Wind Shifts, and I like the way this new album is shaping up... fingers crossed!
|
| |
This band is so fucking good at making music that is generally understood to be cringey af.
|
| |
Band should add some shoegaze based on that album cover lol
|
| |
Well, it sounds like Silverstein. I'm expecting a 3-3.5 for this. Hopefully it will be better than IAAIEIT. And yeah, TIHTWS is definitely their best, followed by Shipwreck.
|
| |
if this band added even the most basic shoegaze elements I’d probably be in love
|
| |
It'd be something different, which I think at this point in their career, they need to start doing before they become completely stale. Their last album was pushing it.
|
| |
Still going strong after this long. Really rare for this genre
|
| |
Well I like Silverstein but I didn't like ghost and I don't really like this yet so I'm not sure how I'll feel about the album
|
| |
I like Ghost more than this, but they seem like bonus tracks to I Am Alive...
Still looking forward to the album though. Oh yeah, that's now 2 Rise bands that have used the word Retrograde in a title in the past year.
|
| |
good shit, better than the last song
|
| |
ok song
|
| |
If I'm honest, Shipwreck in the Sand is my favourite Silverstein album, although I'll always have a soft spot for Waterfront.
New song sounds pretty awesome though, so I'm interested to see what they're going to do on this album.
|
| |
hard hit on the song at the start of the song it is good but they do a lot in that i do not know which song is which on the CD
|
| |
I love When Broken because it was heavy guitar music that had a bass player I could hear and catchy songs. While they have modernized some aspects of their music the genre is just too crowded now and nothing differentiates them. Will always be a solid band, just not that noteworthy anymore IMO.
|
| |
Yeah, bass is dope on DTW too.
