This shit is straight fire. Has heavy jamies elsewhere influence to it. Cant wait for the new album
|
| |
fucking brett wodon god bless
|
| |
Imagine Cold World being the album that kills you lol he made the right decision
|
| |
New album is gonna fucking rule.
This is basically The Flood mixed with Restoring Force, blended with new Bullet For My Valentine influences and I've missed this sound so much.
|
| |
This song fucks.
|
| |
this is actually sick if you ignore the corny lyrics and generic ass breakdown. aaron is a far superior vocalist imo. 3.5/5
|
| |
The lyrics are generic metalcore but like Aaron is killing this shit so hard. I can't wait for the next album.
|
| |
I swear those cleans just ruin it for me it's why I can't listen to 99% of modern ultra sterile sounding metalcore
|
| |
"Marfan syndrome"
Capitalize that. Gonna be an easy 2/5 genericore album.
|
| |
This isn't great, but it's better than anything on Cold World
|
| |
I thought Austin leaving the band would be the end of them, but this is surprisingly great considering the loss of a key member. Sounds like a Restoring Force b-side, makes me think it was purely Austin who was pushing the band in that nu-metal direction
|
| |
This is better than anything off of Cold World, and better than most of Restoring Force (with only like two songs being at the same level as this)
|
| |
Super glad that Aaron's screams are still good, and with time he'll be back to his usual "They Said A Storm Was Coming" ways
|
| |
"This is better than anything off of Cold World"
I enjoy that album like most people would enjoy a Michael Bay film, mindless entertainment to switch your brain off to. Think about it any deeper than that and it's 1.8 average is well deserved
|
| |
Went in expecting to hate this but damn, Aaron's screams sound better than Austin has in years and the guitars are actually somewhat interesting. Pleasantly suprised
|
| |
@Sweeney: Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Cold World as well (solid 3/5), but this is on another level tbh
|
| |
"Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Cold World as well (solid 3/5), but this is on another level tbh"
I wouldn't go that far, this is still bland mainstream metalcore for edgy 15 year olds who think being called "dicksplash" once or twice in school counts as bullying, but it's not terrible bland mainstream metalcore for edgy 15 year olds who think being called "dicksplash" once or twice in school counts as bullying
|
| |
I posted a news article on a new blood stain child music video and it got rejected. Why?
|
| |
Best thing they've ever done, easily.
|
| |
Pretty generic and bad. Singer looks like Tim Lambesis too, so you know he's up to no good.
|
| |
"Dicksplash"
That's an oddly specific insult that I've never heard until this thread honestly, lmao
|
| |
It's not great, but still sounds 100x better than Cold World. This is at least enjoyable, if not kinda generic.
|
| |
They Said A Storm Was Coming was one of my favorite records out of this genre. Give Mr. Pauley more control will not lead to bad things.
|
| |
I don't think they're afraid guys.
|
| |
Quite enjoyable, though rather generic. I enjoyed their nu-metal direction more than most the The Flood was their best and moving back to that sound is very welcomed. Having a range to the screams helps a lot too.
|
| |
still waiting on that symbolic review
|
| |
Finally, a talented vocalist. These guys will go somewhere now.
Although it kinda sucks about Austin (the guy is a grade A creep tho) the band now have a good singer.
|
| |
This is the first time Aaron sounded good on an Of Mice & Men track. I like it but they should kind of change the name of the band. When I think of Of Mice & Men, I think of Austin
|
| |
lol jesus.
so bad.
don't you guys get sick of being marketed to? - u wanna be the person whose unbreakable, but that person does not get marketed to. u don't wanna be the person who gets "I'm not afraid, i'm not afraid, i'm not afraid... I'm unbreakable!" shouted to them by people whose deep passion for music is behind them and now its simply their career. do these gentlemen look like real strugglers to you? meanwhile, their old vocalist, who seemed to have at least an ounce of integrity tho i rlly have no idea, is doing the real suffering while his bandmates continue to feed off the pain of adolescents... who have an ever-increasing demand for soft self-pitying choruses while demanding monotone, useless harsh vocals to pretend they are not just emo.
its really just a bad joke.
This is really too harsh, and its impossible to force someone into more authentic music, especially around metal genres; you just end up making them infatuated with darker music, which is terrible.
There is just such an abundance of this, and this world won't survive the century with our generation of sufferers looking to OM & M for support. Young bloods gotta start understanding the market and how it feeds off your immaturity... otherwise we're fucked.
the problem is not just that its generic; its entirely disingenuous. it only gives u what u want to hear. and the reason some ppl hate generic shit cause its often a sign it might be fake. sometimes its totally not. other times it is. when its as blatant as this... needs to be known.
...Sorry for this... i understand you like singing to the chorus... u think the guitar is hard and complex... i've been there... and I like you... but homies gotta stop listening to 30 yr olds playing for 15 yr olds... gotta start listening for 30 yr olds playing for 30 yr olds and then it'll actually help you grow up... its much harder to find... but there's a lot more gratitude and reward when it comes... nothin wrong per se with liking stuff like this in the meantime, but just look out for bullshit, and that's all this really is... is a big big big big big pile of polished and freshly scented bullshit.
|
| |
What the fuck did I just read?
|
| |
a copypasta is born
|
| |
"Young bloods gotta start understanding the market at how it feeds off our immaturity..."
"u think the guitar is hard and complex... i've been there..."
My god, the fedora is dripping off of most of these lines.
|
| |
"while demanding monotone, useless harsh vocals"
These are literally the least monotone screams in any OM&M song.
|
| |
These are literally the least monotone screams in any OM&M song that isn't on The Flood / Self Titled.***
Fixed, but your point still stands though.
|
| |
this isn't very good
|
| |
Damn this was actually enjoyable
|
| |
Although I have to say, this song and video do take inspiration a bit more than they should have from Bullet for My Valentine's latest song

"presuming that everyone whom finds something embarrassingly bad is actually just acting out compensatory projection of some sort of personal deficit is, in itself, a projection.
and if u think that you have entirely transcended social self-consciousness then, well, you are either an idiot or are in denial."
lol that's a generalization of what i said. I don't presume everyone who finds something embarrassingly bad... etc. etc., I presume that many are when they use certain words by themselves like 'cringe' relative to certain products.
and I have not transcended social self-consciousness, I have practiced operating in spite of it for long enough that it usually no longer corrupts my personal behavior in my pretending that its not there in order to cope with it. i just let the guard down.
its reasonable to find Hopsin bad, just not cringeworthy. Most rap is pathetic. It literally brags about being a piece of shit. But its the most popular genre today. The explanation for this is that it is socially validating because people like to feel better about the shitty things that they do. That's why its 'social' music. People 'relate' to it, where relation is not really empathy, more like entertaining, exaggerated self-pity.
Meanwhile, someone like Hopsin or a Christian metalcore artist is going to be the very most likely to be called "cringe" for the very reason that it says to "be the best that you can be" or some "gay" shit like that. And that really gets the insecure social bullies riled up and ready to rage on the internet. anything lined anywhere near "corny" becomes cringe while most things near "fucked up" or "lowly" is allowed a free pass because ppl want to feel okay about being lowly and they definitely don't want to think anyone is morally superior to them. Thus, any attempt at being moral gets shat on the hardest, and being intentionally immoral often gets labeled "authentic." But the paradox is that the immoral are inauthentic, and those trying to be moral who are shat on the hardest are often innocently authentic, almost dreamlike. And then the wolves gather round to try to externalize their insecurities, and usually end up turning that innocent authenticity into something worse. so when i smell dirty cunts, I often take the responsibility of playing the giant douche...

Thread is ebola agreed

Vocals are great. Song is generic, repetitive and boring.
|
| |
"Most rap is pathetic. It literally brags about being a piece of shit. But its the most popular genre today. The explanation for this is that it is socially validating because people like to feel better about the shitty things that they do."
I listen to it because I like the beats, the production, and the delivery that some rappers give but sure ok
|
| |
Shocked that the band got back on track after losing Austin lol
|
| |
My only complaint is that the guitar and bass tone don't have as much impact as they did on The Flood
|
| |
how is a band that released this video still a band
|
| |
I don't hate it. This is a good thing.
|
| |
But if OM&M could just turn into Jamie's Elsewhere that'd be great too.
|
| |

I just watched the live set they did last night. Aaron totally carries this band, lol.
|
| |
i applaud his dumpster fire carrying skills
|
| |
Yeah, at the risk of sounding like a fanboy, dick-sucker I think he's way too talented for this sinking ship of a band.
My inner 15 year old just wants him back in Jamie's Elsewhere through some miracle. I still think the album he did with them is one of the best post-hardcore records ever.
|
| |
I mean it's not good.. but it's alright I guess.
jamie's elsewhere was pretty decent band i suppose
|
| |
Does any one else not notice how much this song has lifted the guitar from Masquerade by Mors Principium Est?
|

Does any one else not notice how much this song has lifted the guitar from Masquerade by Mors Principium Est?
|

God bless this mess y'all.
|
| |
This track honestly isn't even good. It's generic, lifeless, and boring really.
But compared to Cold World it's fucking Mozart.
|
| |
thread is tl;dr
But metalcore in this form is on its last legs so a shame to see OM&M going back to it so easily after their experiment with nu metal failed.
|
| |
God this is so bad, cant listen to them anymore. Using pretty lame technics to sounds like radio song.
|
| |
their nu metal stuff was lame as dicks. they didn't even go full edgecore nu metal. Also Austin is terrible, wish ppl would admit it.
|
| |
This is what Wovenwar should've done with Honor is Dead, this track is pretty great.
|
| |
yawn
|
| |
I think we can now say that Austin is an awful song writer. As soon as he leaves, the band creates something better than Austins last two albums. This isn't great, but there is potential.
|
| |
One guy said this had ''Bullet For My Valentine influences'' How does this have Bullet For My Valentine influences? Also, cannot believe people are disappointed with this song and that they gave up on nu-metal so easily. Like, are you fucking serious?
Of course this is generic metalcore but I can't imagine how people prefer their last record over this. Lol whatever, I guess.
|
| |
Glad to hear that these guys are finding their sound without their vocalist of many years.
|
| |
Never cared for these guys, but I'm glad to hear that these guys are finding their sound without their vocalist.
|
| |
not good
|
| |
Veil of Maya's Unbreakable is much better js
|
| |
if this band is not broken they should be
|
| |
Hey this is a pretty good Jamie's Elsewhere song
|
| |
The breakdown in this song is savage.
|
| |
its aight
|
| |
Jay don't make me cry, I miss Jamie's Elsewhere so much
|
| |
Not great but not bad either. I'm cautiously optimistic for whatever upcoming release this will be on.
|
| |
Wtf‽
|
| |
on pretty much every other shit core band's albums?
|
| |
its aight
