bad bad bad
|
| |
Good god
I mean, syn can still play pretty well. And the drums are good
Thats about it
|
| |
On one hand, we have new Zao in December, but on another, we have this shit.
|
| |
Terrible.
|
| |
I think I saw a headline that said something along the lines of "New A7X song sounds like old A7X." Was that clickbait bs or does it sound like retro A7X but just isn't good?
|
| |
song was meh
"fans have surmised it will be called Voltaic Oceans following a quickly rescinded tweet from Chris Jericho, who first leaked the news of a new A7X record arriving in December."
looks like Jericho just made the list
|
| |
Sounds like a second rate City of Evil, aka a 4/5
|
| |
The instrumentation is probably the best since City of Evil, but the song lacks a hook or any sort of memorability. Just kind of meanders for eight minutes.
|
| |
It's problems lie in the fact that it's disjointed as all hell. Like, it'd be okay if it had a lot more focus.
Plus, shadows sounds bad and his lyrics arent great either. But it's definitely a step up from the last album
|
| |
I dig. Not sure about the vocals but big props for trying like this, and multiple listens made them grow. That bass needs a way stronger tone though.
Not feeling the disjointed critique honestly
|
| |
wow this is the gayest shit i've ever heard. pure poop if you ask me. poop on a stick.
|
| |
"looks like Jericho just made the list"
Haha nice
Honestly, the song isn't bad. It's a hundred times better than anything they did after CoE. Gates has really improved his guitar chops and him showing off on this track really helps it.
When I heard the intro I thought the song would be more theatrical bs but it seems to be a pretty decent return to the CoE style.
|
| |
Shadows sounds like he is straining so bad
|
| |
"It's a hundred times better than anything they did after CoE"
I really dug nightmare tbh. Agree that Syn is easily the best part about this song tho.
Shadows kinda ruins the song for me
|
| |
Yeah the vocals just get weaker over time. The nasal-ness of the them is pretty annoying.
|
| |
Song is decent, the guitar and drums are pretty powerful. Never liked Shadows's voice though.
|
| |
Jericho, you STUPID IDIOT.
Still boggled at Brooks Wackerman leaving Bad Religion for A7X
|
| |
I'm not sure I agree that it's disjointed, it's got pretty clear structure...
Vocals are relatively weak compared to say 'Second Heartbeat' but they're nowhere near as nasal as CoE...
In short, I dug pretty much everything about this.
|
| |
This isn't bad. Vocals suck as usual but everything else sounds pretty good.
|
| |
Jericho sure broke the walls down around the secrecy of the new avenged album.
|
| |
yeah this is gonna be just as bad as hail to the king
i don't think words can describe how awful that album was
|
| |
this sounds way better than hail to the king imo
|
| |
instrumentally alright, vocally and lyrically just as shit as ever.
|
| |
The vocals ruin the track, imo. This would've been such a better song if he didn't do this pseudo shouty-raspy-nasally type of singing and revert to his melodic Waking The Fallen technique.
|
| |
Shit song
|
| |
Jericho's gonna get...
...IT.
|
| |
Coming from someone who has always liked Shadow's vocals: he sounds like absoulute shit on this track.
This is kind of where I thought they would go after Nightmare, and at that time I thought it would sound a lot better then it does here.
|
| |
Everything sounds really good except the vocals.
|
| |
The vocals seriously made me cringe when they started. I cannot get into this band at all anymore.
|
| |
I don't know if it's just because HttK was a fuckin disappointment but I like this a lot and I'm really excited to hear the record. Saw these guys live last month and they've still got it.
|
| |
Also looked like Clinton and her team pulling the strings at the end.
|
| |
At least it's better than HttK
|
| |
Eight and a half minutes? I don't have time for this shit
|
| |
is it just me or are the vocals crazy forward in the mix
also, thumbs-down meant "let him live" ffs we already went over this with Gladiator
|
| |
"Also looked like Clinton and her team pulling the strings at the end."
Pretty sure it is.
|
| |
Fuck this band.
|
| |
Did A7X buy this track from Iron Maiden? It sounds like one of the songs that would've immediately been cut from one of their albums.
|
| |
Apparently they don't support either candidate though so that's a relief.
|
| |
The real question is, who forms their political opinions based on the views of Avenged Sevenfold?
|
| |
Sounded promising until about 1:30. Chorus is pretty cool, though it really just builds up to nothing. Should have been a pre-chorus for something bigger.
|
| |
Get the fuck out that's not what I meant.
|
| |
Can't listen right now but what I'm getting is: HttK < A7X/Nightmare < this < CoE
|
| |
This is really boring
|
| |
Sounds like wannabe City of Evil
|
| |
Better than wannabe black album
This is still not great tho
|
| |
Wonderful, another shitty song for the radio to pound into me until I want to kill myself further.
Fuck these bums. I just can't even listen through this thing once.
|
| |
Song does indeed have some CoE vibes, but far from anything off that in quality.
|
| |
silly me for thinking them having the bad religion drummer would make this any better
|
| |
Well
I mean at least it's not gonna be The Black Album v2 v2
|
| |
I mean, it's not like my opinion carries much weight since I love everything they've done (except their last and last albums), but I think this is pretty great.
The first half is a little generic, but the second half really takes it in a new direction.
|
| |
Do some folks seriously think this is worse than the new track Emmure just dropped? Compared to that this is pretty kickass. As it is I think this is pretty good but that's just me
|
| |
This song pretty much confirms to me that they kind of suck without the Rev.
|
| |
This song pretty much confirms to me that they kind of suck
|
| |
their discography confirms that they always sucked
|
| |
Sounds like a City of Evil b-side. Not a very interesting one though. Hopefully a few good tracks come out of this though because this direction is miles better than httk
|
| |
Nah Sinister Gates, Waking the Fallen and City of Evil rule
|
| |
He sounds like he's trying to imitate Bruce Dickinson-esque melodies but his voice is so raspy and he has no range ughhhhh
|
| |
first half isn't bad
|
| |
Not gonna listen to the whole thing, but what I heard was at least interesting. Almost sounded like they were kind of having fun again... akin to A Little Piece Of Heaven from the S/T (an album I rather enjoyed for what it was). Doesn't mean this is good necessarily, Shadows never had great vocals but this is just annoying. Already sounds miles better then HttK though, I bet I can nab two or three good songs of this album.
|
| |
Still interested in the album because the instrumentation is the most interesting it's been since COE but the vocals were pretty terrible. Shadows is more nasally than ever, and his voice just doesn't fit this style of song at all. Most of the melody was really awkward honestly. Maybe the other tracks will still surprise me.
|
| |
It's not bad, c'mon, guys.
|
| |
it really is
|
| |
I really liked it. Nice intro, the chorus was ok, and everything in the second half was superb, even Shadow´s voice. But, for god´s sake did I hate the verses. His vocals were terrible there, plus that pseudo-riff... pretty lame. Not enough to bring down the whole song for me tough. Still in doubt if I will like the record tough, if he keeps that style in the verses. Btw, Syn is wild here.
|
| |
It's okay. I have a lot of nostalgia attached to this band that prevents me from outright hating anything they've done (except that last album, my god what a dull mess), but yeah, this was boring, especially vocally.
|
| |
Did Avenged Sevenfold rip off another Metallica song again?
|
| |
Are you actually Shaq?
|
| |
Leads are mixed too low, vocals are too loud and annoying.
It sounds like they are actually trying and having fun though which is nice
|
| |
"Are you actually Shaq?"
You are talking to the real Diesel.
|
| |
Why are the vocals mixed so high. not the best track overall, but better than anything off Hail.
Syn is solid as always.
|
| |
If this is the gift of Jericho, he can have it back.
|
| |
yeah i cant hate this it aint bad
cant take the melodies, orchestra shit, and the vocals overall seriously anymore but the rest sounds okay if not a little basic and same-old-shit-y
|
| |
Syn is the best part of this band and writes terrific solos. The song itself is pretty meh though, especially the increasingly strained vocals.
|
| |
This guys vocals are basically unlistenable on everything except Waking the Fallen, including the debut. But this is an all time low.
|
| |
The Synyster Gate tried to play on my record. The guy begged me but I couldn't let him ruin my masterpiece album Kings and Thieves.
|
| |
@Itwasthatwas At least City of Evil's musicianship (mostly) compensated for the vocal shortcomings, and his vocals are actually pretty good on the self-titled imo. His screams are ok for the genre, but the throaty shouting and nasally singing approaches just don't work on anything they've done INCLUDING Waking The Fallen.
|
| |
Way better and more diverse than anything on their last album, but good god were M. Shadows vocals awful. It's okay overall, and it's their best song since Not Ready to Die (Probably because they're really similar).
|
| |
Shadows' vocals are awful on here.
|
| |
Suprise!!
It sucks.
|
| |
I think I've just gotten used to M Shadows vocals, because they're really not grating on me as much as they seem to do on other people. That laugh around 6.25 is horrendously lame though...
|
| |
they clearly aren't as good without the songwriting creativity of the rev.
|
| |
"they clearly aren't as good without the songwriting creativity of the rev."
Yeah at least when the other guys underwhelmed, The Rev always kept good drum beats and interesting ideas for their music. "A Little Piece of Heaven" is still the coolest thing they've done imo.
|
| |
It does actually sound a shit ton better than anything from Hail to the King. Like they're actually trying to come up with something more original.
Shadows vocals do sound pretty weird though, but there you go.
|
| |
"huge stepdown from Hail to the King"
What
|
| |
Shuffled all my music and second heartbeat was the first thing that came on
Reminded me that m shadows isnt always as awful as he is on here
|
| |
Shadows sounds great here though, especially in the chorus.
|
| |
surprisingly not awful. but i guess anything after HTTK would sound good
|
| |
Just awful
|
| |
I'm quite shocked by how good this is. Hope they return to the sound of their s/t, this song is promising
|
| |
Meh. Not memorable/worthwhile in any way for me.
|
| |
Generic.
|
| |
